Covid-19 - temporary closure of the shipyard activities

Reference is made to the press release from New Havyard Ship Technology AS on 30 September 2020, regarding a temporary halt in activities at the yard as a result of four proven cases of infection by Covid-19.

After the closure, the yard has worked closely with local health authorities to clarify the extent of the spreading of the virus, where approx. 200 people have been tested so far. As of today, approx. 17 people associated with the yard have been diagnosed with the infection.

In order to prevent further spread of the virus and to gain control of the situation, Hyllestad municipality has today, pursuant to the Infection Control Act, decided to keep the yard business closed until 10 October 2020. Such a decision may be extended.

For the vessels that are being outfitted at the yard, it is foreseeable that the closure may lead to delayed deliveries. Any delay will depend on the extent of the shutdown and what measures that can be implemented to make up for the lost production time.
