New US patent approval for Episurf Medical within 3D visualisation
Episurf Medical (NASDAQ: EPIS B) has received another Notice ofAllowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The patent, entitled "Method and node for manufacturing a surgical kit for cartilage repair", covers a medical image segmentation process for 3Dvisualisation of anatomical joints. Image segmentation is a part of the technology around Episurf Medical's individualised joint implants and surgical instruments.
"This is a comprehensive patent for protection in the field of 3Dvisualisation of joints. Image-based segmentation forms the basis for all Episurf Medical's products, and this is a very exciting and rapidly growing field. This patent complements Episurf Medical's earlier patents within medical imaging with a broader protection", comments Katarina Flodström, COO, Episurf Medical.
