E.ON acquires TXU activities in the UK Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– E.ON acquires TXU activities in the UK E.ONs UK-subsidiary, Powergen, has acquired TXU Europes retail business with 5.5 million customers in Great Britain and three coal fired power stations. The purchase price amounts to Euro 2,17 bln (£ 1,37 bln). TXUs trading business and its power purchase agreements are not part of the transaction. This acquisition dramatically boosts Powergens customer base making it the largest electricity supplier in the UK with over 6 million customers. In the gas business Powergen is now the second largest supplier with some 2.4 million customers. The significant increase in customer numbers strengthens the position of Powergen in the attractive retail sales business. The transaction is still subject to competition approval by the European Commission.
