The market leader EnviTec Biogas celebrates its 10th anniversary
Lohne, 25 June 2012 – From start-up company from Lower Saxony to #1 in Europe: This is, in short, the successful company history of EnviTec Biogas AG. Founded as a limited liability (GmbH) company in 2002, the three biogas pioneers Olaf von Lehmden, Kunibert Ruhe and Tobias Schulz made their debut in the German biogas market along with a staff of 17 and a great spirit of enterprise. Today, only ten years later, they have broken the 300 MW mark. EnviTec biogas plants produce electrical energy for 780,000 households, thus cutting down on a total of approximately 1.2 million tons of environmentally harmful CO2 equivalents.
Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas AG, sums up the company's development: 'We have experienced rapid growth, developed innovative technologies and, thanks to our customers and partners, gained more experience than any other company in this sector.' Reason enough to take the opportunity to celebrate EnviTec's success at a ceremony set to be held in Lohne on 29 June 2012 .
From Germany to the world
Only three years after the founding of the business, the first subsidiary opened its doors in Hungary. In 2006, one year later, EnviTec put the first plant outside Germany into operation in the neighbouring Netherlands. Now the company is represented in 15 European countries as well as India and the USA. It's no wonder that the sales volume generated abroad is growing constantly. Olaf von Lehmden attributes the sustained success of EnviTec in particular to its going public in 2007, the development of company-owned operations and its close regional ties. The company enjoys ideal local conditions both at its headquarters in Lohne and in Saerbeck. 'Our technological know-how together with the above-average commitment of our employees provides the foundation for our economic competitiveness', the CEO emphasises.
Fit for the future
Despite the upheaval currently faced by the biogas industry above all resulting from the limited federal promotion of renewable energies, the multi-award winning company is doing more than just 'well' in national and international comparisons. As one of the market leaders in Germany with its own research and development facility, EnviTec and its employees have proved themselves equipped for the future. As Olaf von Lehmden succinctly puts it: 'The last ten years have shown that we are flexible and versatile enough to cope successfully with crises, to see opportunities and to expand our market share.'

EnviTec Biogas AG covers the entire value chain for the production of biogas – including the planning and turnkey construction of biogas plants as well as their commissioning. The company provides the biological and technical service, and also offers full plant and operating management. In addition, EnviTec also operates its own biogas plants.
