EnviTec Biogas launches Own Plant Operation abroad
First plant to be operated in cooperation with Dutch farmer
Lohne, June 30, 2008 – EnviTec Biogas AG [ISIN: DE000A0MVLS8] will make an
important strategic step and build its first own biogas plant outside
Germany. 'Our international Plant Construction activities have been very
successful, and we will now also establish our Own Plant Operations
abroad,' said Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas. In the Dutch town of
Bergharen, the company will build a 625 KW plant together with a local
farmer. This partnership will pay off for both sides: the farmer will
supply the input materials, liquid manure and maize, for biogas production,
while EnviTec Biogas will be in charge of plant construction as well as
technical and biological service. The plant will be operated by the
company’s Dutch partner, Pieter Theunissen. The total investment amount is
EUR 1.8 million. Both partners hold equal shares in the plant. Going
forward, some 4.9 million KW of electricity will be generated in Bergharen.
The plant will be taken into service at the end of 2008 and will receive a
feed-in compensation of 16 cents per kilowatt hour, which has been
guaranteed for ten years.
'International demand for biogas plants is very high. More and more
resource suppliers such as farmers and food companies on the one hand as
well as utilities on the other hand not only want to buy our plants but
also wish to cooperate with us in the production of biogas,' said Olaf von
Lehmden. Pieter Theunissen confirms that it is a good idea to cooperate
with the plant manufacturer. 'The fact that EnviTec Biogas, an experienced
and financially strong plant manufacturer, participates in the project and
assumes responsibility has clearly improved my negotiating position
vis-à-vis the bank. I am looking forward to working with EnviTec, as we
will benefit from our mutual strengths.'
As announced at the IPO, the Own Plant Operation segment has become an
integral element in the company’s growth strategy. Going forward, the
segment will be expanded further, as it generates regular revenues and
attractive margins. At present, EnviTec Biogas operates or builds own
modules with a rated electrical output of 8.9 MW. Further 3.5 MW are
planned. The company sees many opportunities for growth in cooperation with
local partners, especially abroad. The refinement of biogas to natural gas
standards will gain importance in the Netherlands. The respective legal
regulations are to be amended before the end of the year, which means that
the refinement and feeding in of biogas could become much more attractive.
'We are ready when this market picks up,' said Olaf von Lehmden.
EnviTec Biogas AG covers the entire value chain for the production of
biogas - including the planning and turnkey construction of biogas plants
as well as their commissioning. The company provides the biological and
technical service and also offers the full plant and operating management.
In addition, the company also operates its own biogas plants. In Penkun, in
the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, EnviTec constructed the
world's largest biogas park with an electrical connected load of 20
megawatts. Today, the company is represented in more than 14 countries
throughout Europe and as well in China and India. In 2007 EnviTec generated
revenues of EUR 132 million and EBIT of EUR 18 million. The EnviTec Group
has about 280 employees. Since July 2007 EnviTec is listed on the Prime
Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
