Lohne, December 17, 2007 – EnviTec Biogas AG [ISIN: DE000A0MVLS8, WKN:
A0MVLS] has won the first contract in the UK. The Lohne-based company will
build an 840 kW biogas plant for E.H. & B. Dymond & Son, a family-owned
company in Cornwall. The order volume will amount to approx. EUR 3.2
million. Construction is scheduled to start in mid-2008. Designed as a
combined heat-and-power plant, the biogas plant will also process
fermentation residues. The heat produced by the plant will be used by an
'eco village' that is expected to be built near the plant.
'We are aggressively pushing ahead our expansion into other European
markets, and this contract shows that this is the right strategy,' said
Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas. This reference project will enable
EnviTec Biogas to make inroads into a market that has 'huge potential',
according to Olaf von Lehmden, thanks to its large amount of agricultural
land, the political environment and the rising demand for energy.
Agricultural businesses benefit from the fact that biogas plants from
EnviTec can process not only energy crop but also liquid manure. 'This
solves a waste disposal problem and generates additional income,' explains
EnviTec’s CEO. Attractive conditions for the production and feeding-in of
biogas have been established in many European countries. The UK also
subsidises renewable energies. The compensation depends on several factors,
e.g. the size of the plant, and amounts to approx. 11.5 cents per kWh on
average. 'There is high demand from abroad and we are in an excellent
position due to our international focus,' says von Lehmden.
Since June 2007, EnviTec Biogas has had a presence in the UK through its
joint venture with ARM Ltd., a leading supplier of pig housing and
equipment for agricultural businesses in the UK. EnviTec and ARM Ltd. hold
60 and 40 percent, respectively, in EnviTec Biogas (UK) Limited. The
contract signed with E.H. & B. Dymond & Son is the first result of the
cooperation between the two partners.
EnviTec Biogas AG covers the entire value chain for the production of
biogas - including the planning and turnkey construction of biogas plants
as well as their commissioning. The company provides the biological and
technical service and also offers the full plant and operating management.
In addition, EnviTec also operates its own biogas plants. In Penkun, in the
German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, EnviTec is currently
constructing what it believes to be the world's largest biogas park with an
electrical connected load of 20 megawatts. Already today, EnviTec is
represented through its own subsidiaries, joint ventures or sales offices
in the Netherlands, Italy, France, the UK, China, Hungary, the Czech
Republic, Romania, the Ukraine and India. In Belgium, Croatia and Greece,
the company is already in the process of planning and constructing biogas
plants. In 2006 EnviTec generated revenues of EUR 100.7 million and EBIT of
EUR 18.5 million. The EnviTec Group has about 260 employees. Since July
2007 EnviTec is listed on the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock
Exchange.
