GasTerra and GDF SUEZ reinforce their long-term partnership with the extension of their natural gas sale and purchase agreement up to 2029. The contracted volumes will allow GDF SUEZ to supply its markets in particular in France and Belgium. The volumes supplied by GasTerra will form about 15% of the supply portfolio of GDF SUEZ in the future years.
"This new agreement reinforces our long-term relationship with GasTerra. Natural gas from the Netherlands makes a leading contribution to the security of gas supplies for Western Europe" explains Jean-François Cirelli, Vice-Chairman and President of GDF SUEZ. "The identified gas reserves in the Netherlands ensure the availability of a supply on a long-term basis and a portfolio diversification for GDF SUEZ" added Mr Cirelli.
Gertjan Lankhorst, Chief Executive Officer of GasTerra, emphasised the importance of the relationship between GasTerra and GDF SUEZ, 50 years after the discovery of the Groningen field. "In Europe, people rely on natural gas which will continue to have a central role in our energy supply far in this century: continuation and enhancement of our commercial partnership with GDF SUEZ are conducive to stability in energy supply for France and Belgium and reaffirms the long-term high value of gas on the energy market".
