Appointment of Managing Director
Energy Technologies Ltd (ASX: EGY) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Alfred John Chown to the position of Managing Director of the company effective 16 July 2012.
Mr Chown, who is a long-standing director of the company, replaces Mr Malcolm Munro who is leaving the company to pursue another role. He will relocate from Hong Kong to take up the position.
Mr Chown will receive the same remuneration package previously paid to Mr Munro, being a base salary of $180,000 as Managing Director of EGY, plus statutory superannuation and a vehicle allowance. A performance bonus of up to $70,000, payable in EGY ordinary shares, will be subject to achieving certain Key Performance Indicators including achieving growth in the revenues and profits of subsidiaries under his control, and accretion in the share price of EGY.
Mr Chown has been involved with the company for many years and is the principal founder of the Dulhunty Power group of companies operating in the line fittings sector. He was instrumental in building up Dulhunty Power from $A1m turnover in 2003 to a turnover in excess of $A23m in FY2011. The assets of Dulhunty Power International Limited were recently sold for an enterprise price of $17m, an EBIT multiple in excess of 8.
“I am delighted to have been asked by the Board to take up the MD role” said Mr Chown, who added that his immediate focus will be “on improved investor relations, better transparency and building a business platform for rapid growth”.
Mr Chown will work closely with Mr Ralph Stevens, the General Manager of recently acquired wholly owned subsidiary Bambach Wires and Cables Pty Ltd (BWC), in building that business as well as implementing the EGY strategy to develop or acquire branded businesses in niche markets of the Electricity Supply Sector. He will also further represent EGY’s interest in associated entity Dulhunty Poles Pty Ltd.
“Even though we are a relatively small business at this point, with our industry knowledge, connections and the unrealised value currently sitting in our existing brands and businesses” said Mr Chown,“ I am confident that our poor share price performance in recent years can be reversed and I am determined to end the next financial year with the share price better reflecting the true value of the company.”
EGY Chairman, Mr Martin Thomas AM, welcomed Mr Alfred Chown to his new appointment.
