Capital Stage to build 10.5 MW peak solar park in Saxony-Anhalt that features modules from SCHOTT Solar

Capital Stage AG / Key word(s): Alliance

04.11.2011 / 10:36

* 45,000 modules for the Solarpark Roitzsch in the district of
Anhalt-Bitterfeld
* Construction to begin in October, completion expected by the end of 2011
* Partners improve their position in the area of PV projects, joint
building of additional solar parks planned

Mainz/Hamburg/Sandersdorf-Brehna, November 4, 2011 - In October and
November, 2011, SCHOTT Solar AG will be supplying 45,000 solar modules with
a total output of 10.5 MW peak for a new Capital Stage AG project. Capital
Stage is currently developing, financing and building the Solarpark
Roitzsch in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld. In total, a park with an
output in the area of around 13 MW is planned. Hatob GmbH is responsible
for the construction work as the general contractor. The solar power plant
is expected to connect with the grid already by the end of the year and
then generate approximately 12.8 million kilowatt hours of power in an
environmentally friendly manner and without any CO2 emissions. The
companies involved in this project will thus be underscoring their
prominent position in the PV project business once again.

Solarpark Roitzsch will receive remuneration of approx. 22 euro cents for
each kilowatt hour of power it generates for 20 years, as called for by the
EEG (Renewable Energy Sources Act). To make sure the park generates the
highest possible power yields for this entire period and many years beyond,
Capital Stage, the company responsible for this project, elected to use
high-performance modules from SCHOTT Solar. The German PV manufacturer
already has more than 50 years of experience and is known for its
high-quality, long-lasting products. Each of the 45,000 of these
polycrystalline modules that SCHOTT Solar will be delivering for the
project has an output of 230 Watts peak.

Successful collaboration to be continued
'We attach a great deal of importance to the durability of the modules we
install in our solar parks. In SCHOTT Solar, we not only found a reliable
supplier for the Roitzsch project who guarantees first-class quality, we
also view SCHOTT Solar to be a partner with whom we will be able to extend
our cooperation even further and thus expand our solar park business in a
consistent manner to the benefit of both parties,' notes Felix Goedhart,
Chairman of the Board of Management of Capital Stage AG. The company
currently owns and operates solar parks with a total capacity of 94 MW and
is thus Germany's largest independent power producer. The company decided
to enter the project development business this year, rather than investing
solely in turnkey parks, as it did in the past.

'With Solarpark Roitzsch, we are now able to add yet another major project
to our reference list,' says Burkhard Söhngen, the Vice President
responsible for the project business at SCHOTT Solar, and then points to
the flexible service offerings the 'SCHOTT Solar Power Projects' business
unit offers. The company brings all of its photovoltaic project activities
together inside this unit which range from direct sales of modules to
project planners like Capital Stage to providing support on developing and
realizing or even selling turnkey power plants to investors.
Both companies intend to continue their successful relationship by working
together on other solar projects in the future.

SCHOTT Solar, with its high-quality products, enables the potential of the
sun as a nearly inexhaustible source of energy to be utilized. And it's for
exactly that reason that SCHOTT Solar produces important components for
photovoltaic applications and solar energy plants. In the photovoltaic
industry, the company is one of the few integrated manufacturers of
crystalline silicon wafers, cells and modules. In thin-film technology,
SCHOTT Solar also describes itself as an advanced supplier due to having
over twenty years of experience. And in the production of receivers for
solar power plants, SCHOTT Solar sees itself as a market and technology
leader. The receivers are key components in large-scale power plants that
generate electricity from solar energy centrally on the basis of parabolic
trough technology and are able to supply entire cities with power. SCHOTT
Solar has production facilities in Germany, the Czech Republic, the USA and
Spain. The innovative power and technological competence of the company
date back to the late 1950s. SCHOTT Solar is a wholly owned subsidiary of
the international SCHOTT technology group. SCHOTT develops special
materials, components and systems for the household appliance,
pharmaceutical, solar energy, electronics, optical and automotive
industries. With around 17,500 employees, the SCHOTT Group generated a
worldwide turnover of about 2.9 billion euros in fiscal year 2009/2010.
