Eli Lilly and Company Calls Stockholders Meeting

INDIANAPOLIS, March 26, 2013 -- Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE / Euronext Paris / SIX: LLY) yesterday informed its shareholders that it is holding the 2013 Annual General Meeting of stockholders of Lilly on May 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. E.D.T. at the Lilly Corporate Center, Indianapolis, IN 46285 for the following purposes:

1. Election of directors;

2. Ratification of the appointment of Ernst & Young LLP as the company's principal independent auditor;

3. Approval, by non-binding vote, of the compensation paid to the company's named executive officers; and

4. Re-approval of the material terms of the performance goals for the 2002 Lilly Stock Plan.

We have established the close of business on March 1, 2013 as the record date for determining the registered shareholders entitled to attend, vote or grant proxies to vote at the meeting or any adjournments or postponements of the meeting.
