Eiffage, via Smulders, the Belgian subsidiary of Eiffage Métal, in a joint venture with GeoSea, a subsidiary of DEME, has been awarded a Moray Offshore Windfarm East* contract as part of the Moray East wind farm construction project off the north-eastern coast of Scotland. The value of the Eiffage contract is worth more than €250 million.
The project covers the design, supply and installation of the 100 jacket foundations, each 85 metres high and weighing 1,000 tonnes.
Smulders and Eiffage Métal plants in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Poland will produce 55 foundations. All will then be assembled in the United Kingdom and transported and installed offshore by GeoSea.
The 950 MW capacity wind farm project will cover 295 sq. kilometres and is expected to supply 950,000 households with electricity.
With this contract – the largest ever signed by Smulders – Eiffage Métal reaffirms its European leadership position in the market for jacket foundations, transition pieces and electrical substations for offshore wind farms. This contract follows those for the Hohe See and Deutsche Bucht wind farms off the coast of Germany, awarded in 2017, and that for Beatrice, off the coast of Scotland, awarded in 2016.
*Moray Offshore Windfarm East Limited is owned by Diamond Green Limited (33.4%), EDPR (33.3%), ENGIE (23.3%) and CTG (10%).
