Within the framework of a joint project supported by the DGA – the French General Direction of Armaments - (RAPID procedure), Egide and VectraWave are developing technology blocks for the provision of a range of optical receivers that are capable of converting a wideband analog signal into a radio frequency signal for applications of up to 42 GHz. Egide is responsible for the design and production of the packages, while the design of the microwave frequency circuits is being studied and developed by VectraWave. These products are characterized by their enhanced microwave frequency performances and their smaller size; the equipment will be available in coplanar version and in surface-mounted version (CMS).
The developed products will have dual-use capability, serving both military and civil applications in the field of radio, radars, satellite and wireless or optical telecommunications. They are based on both HTCC (High Temperature Cofired Ceramic) technology, for which Egide is the European leader, and high-frequency feed through and MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) circuit design in which VectraWave's expertise lies.
