Appointment of New Non-Executive Director

The Directors of Eastern Iron are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Stephen Gemell - BE Mining (Hons), FAusIMM (CP), MAIME, MMICA to the Board of the Company effective from 6 January 2010.

Mr Gemell is a consulting mining engineer with more than 30 years experience in the mining industry, both in Australia and overseas. He has previously held senior operating roles including CEO positions, and executive and non-executive Directorships in ASX-listed mining companies and unlisted mine operations or joint ventures. His experience has included a variety of roles in areas covering resource development, feasibility studies, mine planning, and operations in a large range of commodities including base and precious metals and uranium.

Mr Gemell is currently a non-executive director of Uranium Exploration Australia Limited (ASX:UXA). Other listed company Directorships held during the past 3 years include: Allstate Explorations NL (until 2007), Central West Gold NL (Chairman, until 2006) and Cluff Resources Pacific NL (Chairman, until 2008).

As announced to the market in mid December, Mr Greg De Ross is joining the Company as Chief Executive Officer in mid February. In tandem with this appointment, Peter Buckley will move to a Non-Executive board position as Technical Director and will continue to assist in outlining new growth opportunities for the Company.
