Downer EDI's Century Resources extends its drilling operations in Asia

Downer EDI Limited (Downer EDI)'s oil and gas division. Century Resources, announced today that the company's international business unit has been awarded two new contracts with Premier Oil (a UK listed oil and gas company) and Canoro Resources (a Canadian listed oil and gas company).

Both contracts are for exploration and development work in north east India.

The contracts will utilise Century's largest rig (one of the largest in the region) and one of its medium capacity rigs that has previously been working for Swedish group Lundin in Indonesia and Unocal Philippines.

Mobilisation of both rigs from Indonesia is well underway with work programs expected to extend to late 2007/early 2008, with follow-on programs already under discussion.

Century also recently completed the observation well and commenced drilling a relief well for Lapindo Brantas/Medco in Surabaya, Indonesia, and has been successful in renewing its rolling contract with Chevron in Indonesia.
