Australian Securities Exchange and New Zealand Stock Exchange DOWNER EDI ACQUIRES INDUSTRIAL INSTRUMENTATION SERVICES BUSINESS
1 April 2009
Downer EDI Limited (Downer EDI) today announced it has signed a conditional agreement to acquire Corke Ltd’s Instrument Engineering business (Corke), a leading provider of specialist industrial instrumentation services.
Downer EDI Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Knox, said the acquisition, scheduled for settlement later this month, will provide the Group’s Engineering Division with a centre of excellence for industrial instrumentation services.
“Downer EDI has enjoyed a strong working relationship with Corke, spanning 25 years. The acquisition will enhance our existing instrumentation capabilities, further strengthen our expertise and geographic depth.
“This acquisition is consistent with our strategy of seeking bolt-on investment opportunities which offer value to Downer EDI and ultimately deliver a greater service offering to our customers,” Mr Knox concluded.
Corke’s operations, based out of Victoria, include over 300 employees, with expertise in engineering design, project management, construction/installation and operational maintenance of instrumentation and electrical systems. Turnover for the 12 months ended 30 June 2008 exceeded $50 million.
During the past 30 years Corke has successfully delivered a range of services across Australasian projects in the oil and gas, petrochemical, metal refining, pulp and paper, and public infrastructure sectors, including water and power.
