DOWNER AWARDED $100 MILLION MINING CONTRACT

Downer EDI Limited (Downer) today announced it has been awarded a contract with BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) for the provision of mining services at the Blackwater coal mine in the Bowen Basin, Central Queensland.

The two year contract is valued at approximately $100 million and has an additional one year option. It is scheduled to commence in July 2015, with the scope of works including the load and haul of pre-strip material.

Downer is the incumbent pre-strip contractor at Blackwater with the existing term due to expire on 30 June 2015.

The Chief Executive Officer of Downer, Grant Fenn, said he was pleased to renew the contract for a further two years and continue working with BMA at the Blackwater coal mine.
