DOWNER WINS BLASTING CONTRACT VALUED AT AROUND $90 MILLION

Downer EDI Limited (Downer) announced today that it had been awarded a contract worth around $90 million over three years to provide blasting services to Jellinbah Group at Jellinbah Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

The base contract is for a three year term with a two year option and involves the annual provision of approximately 23,000 tonnes of explosives, as well as down-the-hole loading, shotfiring and blast design services.

Jellinbah Group is a privately owned, independent coal company with two operations in the Bowen Basin at Jellinbah and Lake Vermont coal mines.

This new contract enhances Downer Mining’s position as a leading supplier of blasting services in the southern Bowen Basin, with other contracts in the area including Ensham, Yarrabee, Blackwater and Minerva coal mines.

Downer Mining now provides over 300,000 tonnes of explosives annually to customers throughout New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.
