DOWNER WINS CONTRACT TO CONSTRUCT ONESTEEL PLANT

Downer EDI Limited (Downer) today announced it had been awarded a contract by OneSteel Manufacturing Pty Ltd to construct an iron ore beneficiation plant in Iron Baron, South Australia.

The EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract, valued at more than $60 million, is for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of all process equipment including receival station, beneficiation tower, product stackers and associated distribution conveyors and wet circuits as well as site preparation and civil works.

The Chief Executive Officer of Downer, Grant Fenn, said that Downer subsidiary CPG Resources was the lead designer of the plant and Downer Australia would be responsible for its construction.

“This contract highlights Downer’s ability to provide customers with a broad capability for their critical infrastructure needs,” Mr Fenn said.

The project is scheduled for completion in February 2012.
