DOWNER APPOINTS NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Downer EDI Limited (Downer) today announced the appointment of Philip Garling to the position of Non-executive Director, effective 24 November 2011.

The Chairman of Downer, Mike Harding, said Mr Garling’s appointment continued the process of Board renewal at Downer.

“Philip has over 30 years’ experience in infrastructure, construction, development and investment and his broad range of skills will strengthen the Downer Board,” Mr Harding said.

“I said at our Annual General Meeting two weeks ago that we were well advanced in a process that will result in the appointment of three new Non-executive Directors. Philip is the first of these appointments and I look forward to making further announcements in the near future.”

Mr Garling is Chairman of Asian Giants Infrastructure Fund and a Director of Australian Renewable Fuels Limited, Diversified Utility and Energy Trust (DUET) and The Infrastructure Fund of India. He holds an Advanced Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Institute of Building and Institution of Engineers Australia.

Mr Garling was formerly Global Head of Infrastructure at AMP Capital Investors and Chief Executive Officer of Tenix Infrastructure. He was also a long-term senior executive with Lend Lease Corporation, culminating in his role as CEO of Lend Lease Capital Services, the development capital and infrastructure investment and development arm of Lend Lease.
