Volatility in transition makes for a good entry point

AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) is Big Pharma multinational, that was spun-off from Abbott in 2013. ABBV's flagship product Humira generated sales of $19.8 billion or 45 per cent of revenues in CY20. The blockbuster revenues are expected to diminish in the next 3 years as Humira has lost exclusivity outside its home turf from 2018 and from 2023 in the US. Meanwhile, Rinvog and Skyrizi in the immunological franchise are geared to plug the Humira-gap along with other large products in oncology.

Given this backdrop, investors with moderate risk appetite may find this a good time to enter the stock that is trading at 7.8 times CY22 earnings andan EPS CAGR of 14 per cent between CY20 and CY22 (Bloomberg). The stock price bears the overhang of Humira loss and execution risk of Rinvog and Skyrizi while ignoring the growth potential of newly-launched products and pipeline potential. ABBV's acquisition of Allergan in 2020, meanwhile, can help sustain strong cash flows and an attractive dividend yield of 4 per cent.

Immunology options

Humira's (TNF based Biologic) major therapies include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis under rheumatology; atopic dermatitis and psoriasis in dermatology; and Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis in gastro.

Humira's wide scope of therapies is being slowly addressed by Rinvog and Skyrizi. Rinvog (a janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor) has been approved for rheumatoid arthritis in the US in 2019 and additionally for atopic dermatitis in Europe and is in advanced stages for filing in atopic dermatitis (US), psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing

spondylitis. Similarly, Skyrizi (IL-23 inhibitor) has been approved for psoriasis and is filing in gastro indications. Rinvoq and Skyrizi, launched in 2019, generated combined sales of $2.3 billion in CY20 and ABBV expects to generate around $15 billion by CY25 (peak sales expected around CY30). Rinvog and Skyrizi have so far generated strong Phase 3 data for most indications under regulatory review including better safety profile. But a recent post-marketing safety study on a competing JAK (tofacitnib) has revealed elevated cardiac and cancerriskwhich may apply on Rinvoqas well. A clarity on label with upcoming atopic dermatitis review should address safety concerns. But even otherwise, Rinvoq application in second line of treatment (30 percent share)shouldimplya patient population with higher risk tolerance.

ABBV has a strong hematologic oncology portfolio with Imbruvica ($5.3 billion in CY20) and Venetoclax ($13 billion) which is expected to add a fewmore lineextensions as it ramps towards peak sales estimate of $3 billion.

Line extensions of the two immunological assets can fill the gap of Humira,

while the other 50 mid/late-stage pipeline assets can drive growth for ABBV. Through acquisition of Allergan, ABBV added a migraine portfolio which can generate around §2 billion in peak sales consisting of recently approved Qulipta (episodic migraines), and Ubrelvy (acute migraines). Allergan's Vraylar approved for three antipsychotic diseases is expected to generate peaksales of $4 billion bythe next fewyears from $1 billion in CY20. ABBV also has an Alzheimer's portfolio in mid-stage development and it expects improved cognitive function compared to adacanumab from Biogen. In immunology, the most noteworthy pipeline asset is a TNF/steroid conjugate ABBV-3373 with positive results from studies in Phase-2a for rheumatoid arthritis. Antibody drug conjugates combine the specificity of earlier generation with the toxicity/effectiveness of conjugates. Allergan was an once an acquisition target for Pfizerna proposed $160 billion deal in 2015-16 which however did not go through. Itsubsequently sold to Abbvie for a third of the consideration. Graham Number Route to shortlisting undervalued bets

If you have been scouting for long term bets in the ongoing rip roaring rally in the equity markets, we have you covered.

Market veterans have formulated many screening methodologies, that can help DIY investors in picking under-valued bets.

In this week's series, we discuss one such methodology - Graham number

coined by Benjamin Graham (regarded as the father of value investing) that helps ascertain the maximum value one can pay for a stock.

Investors can then do further research to fine tune the results of the discussed screening methodology, before boiling down on their investment choice.

The criteria

To arrive at the Graham number, first we start by multiplying the earnings and book value of a company, on a per share basis, with an ideal multiple.

Pick stocks trading at lower than their intrinsic value based on their recent earnings and book value per share

The square root of this product is the Graham number, which is the maximum price one can pay for a stock.

Consequently, if a stock currently trades lower than the Graham number, it is undervalued.

According to Benjamin Graham, the price to earnings multiple and price to book value multiple of a stock should not exceed 15 times and 1.5 times, respect-

ively. However, he believes that a multiplier of earnings below 15 times, could justify a higher multiplier on the company's assets, or vice versa. a.

Net-net, the

product of the multipliers should not exceed 22.5 times (15 multiplied by 1.5), which is considered as the ideal multiple for arriving at the Graham number.

Mining and Gas Distribution, among the undervalued bets, while considering an ideal multiple of 22.5 times.

Besides, the score involves a great deal of recency bias and being heavily reliant on precise data points, ignores one-ofts,

such as the recent Covid-affected financials of FY21. The score also does not factor in the continuity of earnings (historical or plausible forecasts), which is an important metric to be gauged while narrowing down on long-term bets. Besides, it is difficult to ascertain the maximum value for companies with either

negative earnings or negative book value, using this method.

Hence, looking at the Graham number alone may not be the right way to zero in on

Using the Capitaline database, we filtered undervalued stocks using the Graham number (FY21). Besides, we considered only

BSE 500 companies as a starting point to ensure adequate visibility and market interest.

The screener indicates that of the profit making companies (416 companies) within the index, 57 are currently trading below their respective Graham numbers. Most of these include

PSUs such as SAIL, NTPC, Power Grid Corporation, Power Finance Corporation, HUDCO, NMDC, etc.

ఒక్కసారిగా పెద్ద పెద్ద శబ్దాలు రావడంతో జనం ఇండ్ల నుంచి బయటకు పరుగులు తీశారు. భూకంపం ಅನಿ తెలుసుకుని ఉలిక్కిపడ్డారు. మధ్యాహ్నం శనివారం మంచిర్యాల జిల్తాలో సంభవించిన భూకంపంతో ప్రజలు భయంతో వణికిపోయా రు. తొలుత ఉపరితల గనులో పేలుడు అని భావించినప్పటికి మొదటి షిఫ్మ పూర్తికావస్తున్న సమయంలో ఈ ఘటన చోటు చేసుకోవడంతో జనం భయాందోళనకు గురయ్యారు. విచ్చలవిడిగా గనులు తవ్వేసి, వాటిలోని బొగును ఖాళీ చేసి వదిలేశాక, అవి కుప్పకూలిన సందర్భాల్లో స్వల్పస్థాయి భూకంపాలు సంభవిస్తుంటాయి. భూగర్భంలో అణుపరీక్షలు నిర్వహించడం వల్ల కూడా భూకంపాలు సంభవిస్తాయి. డ్యాముల వెనుక రిజర్వాయర్లలో భారీ పరిమాణంలో నీటిని నిల్వేేయడం వల్ల ఏర్పడే ఒత్తిడి కారణంగా కూడా భూకంపాలు సంభవించే (పమాదాలు ఉన్నాయి. అయితే మంచిర్యాల చుట్యూ ఉన్న బొగ్గు గనులతో పాటు ఎల్లంపల్లి [పాజెక్టులో ఎల్లప్పుడూ నీరు నిల్వ ఉండటంతో ఈ భూకంపం సంభవించడానికి కారణమై ఉండొచ్చని [పజలు భావిస్తున్నారు.జిల్లా కేం[దంలో మధ్యాహ్నం సమయంలో సంభవించిన భూకంపంతో పట్టణవాసులు ఆందోళనకు గురయ్యారు. చున్నంబట్టి వాడ, శ్రీశ్రీనగర్తో పాటు సీతారాంపల్లి, నస్పూర్, సీతారాంపూర్, సీసీసీ (పాంతాల్లో భూకంపం తీ(వతతో ఉలిక్కిపడ్డారు. కొన్ని (పాంతాల్లో 2 సెకన్లు, మరికొన్ని చోట్ల మూడు సెకన్ల పాటు భూకంప (పభావం కనిపించింది.ఒక్కసారిగా కిందపడినట్లుగా అనిపించిందని, భయంతో పరుగులు తీశామని (పజలు చెబుతున్నారు. జైపూర్ మండల పరిధి ఇందారం,రామారావుపేట్ ఈ ప్రభావానికి గురయ్యాయి. భూమి కంపిం చడంతో ఇండ్లలో సామాన్లు కింద పడ్తాయని, కూర్చున్న వారిని కదిపినట్టు అయిందని రామారావుపేట్, ఇందారం (గామాలకు చెందిన వారు అన్నారు.
