When compared to the same quarter in the previous year, turnover increased in the first quarter of 2001 by 118 per cent, from 1,391 Thousand Euro (TEUR) to TEUR 3,036. As a result of earnings before interest and tax (EBIT), the company, which is quoted on the New Market (Symbol: 547100), appreciated by 36 per cent, rising from TEUR 84 to TEUR 114. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) amounted to TEUR 359 and were therefore 48 per cent higher than those for the first quarter of 2000. The result from ordinary activities amounted to TEUR 489. Earnings per share (IAS) amount to 0.05 Euro. At the end of the first quarter, financial resources exceeded 25 Million Euro. All segments of antwerpes ag contributed to the growth in turnover. The business sector, Tools & Commerce, which includes Portal DocCheck(r), product development and the e-commerce sector, showed the most growth in percentage terms: Compared to the first quarter of 2000, turnover increased by 573 per cent from 138 TEUR to 929 TEUR. The business sector, Communication, which includes the units New Media and Classic Media, grew by 56 per cent from 1,253 TEUR to 1,951 TEUR. In the business sector, Consulting, the subsidiary antwerpes.korte eConsulting GmbH, in which antwerpes increased its participating interest from 30 to 51 per cent in February 2001, contributed TEUR 156 to turnover. antwerpes also significantly increased its number of employees. The public limited company had 46 employees in the first quarter of 2000, by the end of March 2001 this number had already increased to 108. With turnover per employee being 112 EUR, the company is in the lead within its peer group. In 2000, the company generated turnover amounting to 10.3 Million EUR. A turnover of 18.3 Million EUR is targeted for year-end.
