  • Diatreme appoints experienced mining industry executive and current Non-Executive Director, Mr Gregory Starr as Chairman

  • Mr William Wang to remain on Board as Non-Executive Director

Emerging mineral sands company Diatreme Resources Limited (ASX:DRX) announced today the appointment of experienced mining industry executive and current Non-Executive Director, Mr Gregory Starr, as the Company’s independent Chairman, effective 31 May 2018.

Former Chairman, Mr William Wang will remain on the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Appointed to the Board on 13 October 2017, Mr Starr has more than two decades’ executive experience in the resources sector, having served as managing director of a number of Australian and Canadian listed mining and exploration companies.

Along with his extensive operational experience in management, Mr Starr has been responsible for a number of successful capital raisings, merger and acquisition (M&A) agreements and project expansions.

His qualifications include being a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology Sydney.

Diatreme’s Chairman, Mr Wang said the appointment would add momentum to the Company’s development drive at its flagship Cyclone Zircon Project and other projects, while also ensuring the continuation of a high standard of corporate governance.

“Since joining the Board last October, Gregory has made an outstanding contribution to Diatreme’s evolution from exploration to development. I am confident that his experience in driving projects forward will be extremely valuable in maximising the value of our mining assets for the benefit of all stakeholders,” he said.

Diatreme’s CEO, Mr Neil McIntyre, said Mr Wang had made an enormous contribution to the Company’s progression since his appointment as a Non-Executive Director in 2011.

“William’s wide business and government connections in China and his proven leadership experience have proved invaluable to Diatreme’s recent successes, including the de-risking of the Cyclone Project and our partnership with China ENFI Engineering Corporation, which is backed by one of the world’s largest mining groups,” he said.

“We are delighted that William will remain on the Board and continue to provide his unique insights into the world’s largest resources consumer, as we work to secure the necessary investment to drive Cyclone’s development and unlock value from our project pipeline.”
