CHAIRMAN’S ADDRESS Presented to Annual General Meeting of Shareholders Thursday 28 May 2009
Ladies and Gentlemen
As Chairman, I am pleased to advise that your Company remains in a sound financial position, with sufficient funds and promising projects to pursue its exploration success of previous years.
Diatreme continues to advance the Eucla Basin Cyclone Heavy Mineral (HM) Deposit in Western Australia, currently an inferred resource standing at 60Mt grading 3.1% heavy mineral, and with further positive results, confirms that it aims to commence feasibility studies in early 2010. Being rich in zircon and leucoxene, it represents one of the most attractive HM deposits in Australia.
The Company’s mineral sands’ exploration team is presently, as I speak, undertaking close spaced delineation and definition aircore drilling over the Deposit. Such work is expected to substantially increase the dimensions, size and knowledge of the mineralisation and will ultimately lead to the announcement of a revised resource estimate, expected during the third quarter of 2009. The current work effectively involves pre-feasibility studies and includes bulk sampling to determine mineralogy, grain size, mineralogical populations for lateral and horizontal deposition, pilot tests for ore commerciality, and ore characterisation.
As yet, the drilling has not defined the outer limits of the Deposit, which currently has a strike length of approximately 5km and is open ended to the north and southwest. Drilling for heavy minerals is progressively advancing northwards towards the Hurricane Prospect (discovered by the Company in 2007) and which appears to be situated directly along strike, but about 30km from Cyclone.
The Company has a vision to fast track the Cyclone Deposit (and associated mineralisation) towards mining on the back of progressively successful exploration and feasibility studies.
In conjunction with the Cyclone/Hurricane exploration, Diatreme propose to scout drill two other highly prospective, but greenfield, HM projects this year. Jubilee Lakes in Western Australia and Arckaringa in South Australia both have the location, geometry and size to host similar or larger HM concentrations than currently exist at Cyclone. To date, these areas have not been the subject of HM drilling and accordingly no discoveries have been reported.

Looking at the Company’s copper prospects, two drilling programs are in progress. Our metals team is exploring for porphyry copper/gold mineralization at Clermont in central Queensland and for iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) mineralization at Anabama in South Australia. These targets, which can result in world class ore bodies, require detailed assessment over time using advanced geophysical and geological methods for delineation.
The Company has access to numerous other project areas and will progressively conduct exploration over them during the forthcoming year.
In conclusion, I wish to state my gratitude to all those new and long standing shareholders who have demonstrated their confidence in the management and the Company with continued funding of our exploration. It is refreshing in these uncertain economic times to have shareholders being supportive of our medium and long term plans.
