Summary Outline of Main Prospects
Overview
The main prospects of Central Minerals are located in the Rannes Project area in Central Queensland. The district has recorded historical production of gold in excess of 10 million ounces, principally at Mt. Morgan and Cracow.
Following the initial recognition of “Carlin” style mineralization in the Rannes Central area numerous applications for exploration permits were lodged along more than 200 km of the eastern edge of the Bowen Basin (see Figure1).
Four (4) prospects in the Rannes Central area have been subject to first pass drilling – Crunchie, Homestead, Kauffmans and Porcupine – with economic intersections in all four.
Surface soil, stream and rock sampling have already identified a further thirteen (13) gold targets – Soggy, Hogget Hill, Cracklin Rosie, Mt Cooper, Baralaba, Theodore, Scoria, Police Camp, 12 Mile Creek, Bottle Tree Creek, Grantleigh, Stanwell and Stanwell North.

Geological Model
The “Carlin” sediment hosted gold concept as applied to the Central Minerals prospects (see Figure 2) is evident in relatively flat mineralized carbonate sediments revealed in the initial first pass drilling. The assay results reveal medium sulphidation mineralization in younger rocks (Bowen Basin sediments) than in the near vertical low sulphidation environment in older rocks at depth as mined at Cracow.
There is a substantial presence of silver with gold at Crunchie and other prospects, a characteristic of the Carlin Trend in Nevada, USA.
Another feature of the Carlin Trend evident at Rannes is folding and thrust faulting which brings the mineralization back to the surface. Prospects in the Rannes Central area (see Figure 3) clearly show the mineralization sequence repeating, delivering targets for numerous potential open cut mines along fault lines. A typical prospect surface expression is shown in the photograph of the Crunchie Prospect (see Figure 4).
The largest gold provinces in the world are sediment hosted (Witwatersrand in South Africa, Muruntau, Carlin in Nevada, USA, etc) and all results to date suggest that Central Minerals has identified a new sediment hosted gold province in eastern Australia.

Rannes Central Prospects
Plotted in plan and cross‐sectional views, the assay results from initial drilling on Rannes Central Prospects reveal –
-
Long economic near surface drill intercepts at Crunchie , Kauffmans , Homestead and Porcupine Pie prospects
-
Continuous shoots with economic grades of gold and silver are evident
-
The shoots occur in shallow pitching structures that are open at open cut mineable depths
-
High grades appear to be continuous, offering potential for future deeper underground mining below developed open pits
-
Shoots occur as wide soft zones with good continuity and regular outlines, amenable to development and recovery of ore via relatively cheap bulk open cut methods (see later Figure 5)
Crunchie Prospect
Key drill hole assay results from the Crunchie Prospect are shown in Table 1 below. The drill cross‐sections (refer Figure 5) and Plan (refer Figure 6) demonstrate that the Crunchie deposit has up to 60 metres true thickness and good continuity. The principal geological control appears to be a low angle thrust fault that forms a hanging wall (deposit top surface) which dips northwards. This new geological understanding of the deposit indicates a drill target zone with a length of more than 300 metres and a width of approximately 200 metres. The deposit remains open along strike in both directions and is open at depth.

Kauffmans Prospect
The Kauffmans drilling was designed to test for a south‐westerly extension to the initial discovery intersection in Hole KAU 6. The results have confirmed continuity of this deposit to the southeast, within the limestone – tuff sequence with a higher grade (molybdenum rich) zone that appears to be continuous. The assay results for all holes at Kauffmans that carry gold and silver mineralisation are shown in the following Table 2, with the Drill hole locations shown on the plan Figure 7, and plotted on the cross‐section Figure 8.

Assays from the most recent drilling verify the postulated southwest pitching deposit to the south of the initial drilling at Homestead. Good grades have been encountered in the centre of this shoot (14 metres @ 4.46 g/t Au and 54 g/t Ag) over what is close to a true width. The assays of mineralized holes drilled at Homestead are shown in Table 3 below, with the drill hole locations shown on the plan Figure 9, and plotted on the cross‐section Figure 10.

Porcupine Prospect
Five holes have been drilled at Porcupine Pie where intersections of up to 128 metres @ 1.15 g/t Au have been encountered by a previous explorer. These earlier intersections were about 50 – 100 metres north of the Central drill sites and were not repeated, but the three holes that intersected gold have an average weighted grade of 1.4 g/t Au over a thickness of 18 metres. The key assay results for drilling to date at Porcupine Pie are shown in Table 4 below, with the drill hole locations shown on plan Figure 11. Further drilling is necessary before a cross‐section can be drawn.

Other Projects and Prospects

The Clermont goldfield in Central Queensland has a long history as a significant producer of alluvial gold, however previous explorers have been deterred from actively seeking the source of the original mineralization due to the local topography – flat lying black soil plains, with no apparent outcrop. Central Minerals secured exploration tenements in the area and has reassessed historical data bases. Combined with the most advanced geophysical and geochemical exploration techniques now available, the Company has identified target areas which were sufficiently developed to allow first pass blind reconnaissance drilling to commence in August 2008. An initial fifteen (15) hole program was completed, and assay results analysed.
The main prospect drilled is called Niagara , and as shown on Figure 12 (radiometric background) is located on the edge of a large buried granite body north east of the historic Miclere alluvial gold field. This first drilling program at Clermont was designed to find new areas of gold mineralization under cover, and was successful in that regard. Figure 13 indicates that a new poorly defined, non‐outcropping goldfield has been located about 8 km north east of the Miclere field. With further exploration and drilling the potential exists to locate better substantial grades nearby (associated with the large granite intrusive).

Next Steps and Forward Outlook
Central Minerals Rannes Project will be advanced by extensive drilling programmes on the Crunchie, Kauffmans, Homestead and Porcupine Pie Prospects to drill out the prospects to provide a JORC compliant resource estimate.
Initial first pass drilling is also required on the other thirteen (13) identified hot targets and others that will become evident from current field exploration programmes. It can be expected that several of these targets will subsequently progress to drill out for a resource estimate.

Footnote - Gold Equivalents (“Au Eq”) assumptions :
In most gold-silver mines of this geological type, both gold and silver are recovered and sold. Gold is far more valuable per gram than silver but the two precious metals can be combined into a gold equivalent value “Au Eq”. The assumptions used for this Au Eq calculation are:
| 1 troy ounce (oz) = |
1 troy ounce (oz) = |
31.103477 grams (gm) |
31.103477 grams (gm) |
||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metal* | Prices (US$) 4 Dec09outlook |
Units | Price (US$) per gram (gm) |
Ratio | Today’s Spot Prices for comparison ratio 65.8 |
| Ag | $19.08 | / troy ounce | $0.61 / gm | 64 | US$19.08/oz |
| Au | $1216 | / troy ounce | $39.05 / gm | 1 | US$1216/oz |
Where Ag = Silver and Au = gold (all in grams per tonne of ore “g/t”)
In the Company’s opinion all elements included in the metal equivalents calculation have a reasonable potential to be recovered, approximately in the proportions of 85% to 95% for Ag, 90% to 95% for Au based on standard industry practice. Recoveries may change as testwork proceeds. On this basis, the formula used to calculate Au Equiv is as follows (note no difference in relative recovery rates have been included in this calculation): Au Eq = Au + Ag / 66
