Appointment of Chairman

Further to the March 2014 announcement of Steve Hannam's retirement as Chairman, Devro is pleased to announce that it will appoint Gerard Hoetmer, currently non-executive director of Devro, as Chairman.  Gerard will assume this role on 15 May 2014, having joined the Board on 30 July 2013. 

Gerard, a Dutch national, is currently CEO of Corbion nv (previously CSM nv), the quoted international biobased products company which is listed on NYSE Euronext Amsterdam. During his nine years with Corbion, Gerard has transformed it from a business with a diverse portfolio of activities to a leading, focused, biotechnology USD 1bn company.  He will be stepping down from Corbion on 12 May 2014.

Gerard previously held a number of positions with Unilever, including Senior Vice President Supply Chain Unilever Foods, and was a member of Unilever Foods Executive.

Steve Hannam, current Chairman, commented:

"Although Devro has recently faced some trading headwinds, the future for the business remains very positive, and with the major capital projects and planned restructuring we have the pillars in place to support our growth plans. Since Gerard joined the Board in July 2013, he has shown a natural understanding of all aspects of our business and I am delighted that he will succeed me as Chairman and ensure continuity of leadership for the board as our plans are implemented."
