Securities Exchange Announcement
12[th] December 2012
Agreement with Verisk Analytics Inc. to Establish National Metal Register in North America
The Directors of DataDot Technology Limited (ASX:DDT) are pleased to announce a commercial agreement has been signed with Verisk Analytics Inc to enable operation of the National Metal Register in North America.
Verisk Analytics Inc is a NASDAQ listed public company specialising in the provision of risk assessment and analytic services to 98% of U.S. insurers and law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and National Insurance Crime Bureau.
The National Metal Register is a state of the art product initiative to combat the theft of copper and other metals from commercial and industrial facilities operated by power producers and distributors, telecommunications providers, network rail operators, airport authorities and national retail groups.
Theft of copper in North America is now at epidemic proportions with many US States having increased the severity of jail terms in an effort to combat the problem. Direct losses are substantial - insurance claims to replace stolen air conditioning units alone exceeded US$1 billion in 2010 - and productivity losses resulting from copper theft are estimated to exceed US$10 Billion per annum.
The National Metal Register service will combine the unique asset marking properties of DataDotDNA and Verisk Analytic’s digital law enforcement network to enable instant, in-field confirmation of the true ownership of marked metals. This will provide a compelling deterrent to metal thieves and those dealing in stolen copper.
Initial responses to the National Metal Register have been extremely positive from industry participants who are bearing the impact of copper theft.
The National Metal Register will be formally launched to the market early in the New Year.
