Rinascita green del polo siderurgico di Piombino

Oggi in occasione della Conferenza per la Ricostruzione dell'Ucraina, è stato sottoscritto a Roma l'Accordo di Programma per il rilancio del polo siderurgico di Piombino tra Metinvest Adria – joint venture tra il gruppo ucraino Metinvest e Danieli Group – il Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy (MIMIT), il Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti (MIT), il Ministero dell'Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica (MASE), il Ministero del Lavoro e delle Politiche Sociali, la Regione Toscana, il Comune di Piombino e le istituzioni locali.

Si tratta di un passo decisivo per la realizzazione a Piombino di un impianto siderurgico di nuova generazione, per un investimento complessivo di circa 3 miliardi di euro di cui circa il 50% sarà realizzato da Danieli con la fornitura chiavi in mano degli impianti tecnologici principali.

Certamente un progetto strategico per l'Italia che porterà ad una riqualifica industriale, economica e occupazionale del territorio di Piombino con un progetto green che rispetta i criteri della tassonomia europea e porti al rilancio di un polo industriale fermo da oltre dieci anni permettendo anche una riduzione dell'attuale import in Italia di coils dall'estero. Nell'ambito del medesimo percorso è stato inoltre definito l'Accordo di Sviluppo con il MIMIT, strumento fondamentale per accompagnare questo investimento industriale innovativo per una linea QSP con due forni Digimelter alimentati con tecnologia Q One per una produzione fino a 2,7 milioni tons di Hot Rolled Cois per il mercato nazionale dei prodotti piani.

Contestualmente, è stata ottenuta da SACE la garanzia assicurativa con il piano ARCHIMEDE, che sarà operativa con il benestare da parte del Ministro dell'Economia e della Finanze e consentirà la copertura finanziaria del progetto secondo i criteri del project financing.

L'Accordo di programma segue la finalizzazione anche dell'Accordo Sindacale tra Metinvest Adria e le organizzazioni sindacali di categoria, che definisce il quadro occupazionale e sociale connesso al piano industriale. Il progetto prevede la creazione di circa 1.100 posti di lavoro stabili tra diretti e indiretti.

Danieli ritiene che l'installazione in Italia di un impianto così tecnologicamente avanzato per una produzione flessibile e diversificata permetterà di migliorare lo standing tecnologico ed industriale del Paese divenendo una referenza mondiale per produrre acciaio di grande qualità con un bassissimo impatto ambientale.

Green Rebirth of Piombino Steelmaking Complex

Today, during the Conference for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, the Program Agreement for the revitalization of the Piombino steelmaking complex has been signed in Rome by Metinvest Adria — a joint venture between the Ukrainian group Metinvest and Danieli Group — the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT), the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE), the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Piombino and local institutions.

This is a decisive step towards the construction of a new generation steel plant in Piombino, for a total investment of about 3 billion euro, approximately 50% of which will be implemented by Danieli with the turnkey supply of the main technological systems.

It is undoubtedly a strategic project for Italy, that will lead to an industrial, economic, and employment redevelopment of the territory of Piombino with a green project that fulfils the criteria of the European taxonomy and leads to the relaunch of an industrial centre that has been stagnant for over a decade, also allowing a reduction in the current import of coils into Italy from abroad.

As part of the same process, a Development Agreement with the MIMIT has also been reached; this is a key instrument for supporting this innovative industrial investment for a QSP line with two Digimelter furnaces powered by Q One technology to produce up to 2.7 million tons of Hot Rolled Coils for the domestic market of flat products.

At the same time, SACE has obtained the insurance guarantee under the ARCHIMEDE plan, which will be operational with the approval of the Minister of Economy and Finance and will allow the project to be financially covered according to project financing criteria.

The Program Agreement also follows the finalization of the Trade Union Agreement between Metinvest Adria and the sectoral trade unions, which defines the employment and social framework related to the industrial plan. The project concerns the creation of approximately 1,100 permanent direct and indirect jobs.

Danieli believes that the installation of such a technologically advanced plant in Italy for versatile and diversified manufacturing will enhance the country's technological and industrial standing, becoming thus a global benchmark for producing high-quality steel with a very low environmental impact.
