Cerimonia di firma del contratto per impianto di riduzione diretta ed acciaieria elettrica tra OMK (Russia) e Gruppo Danieli

Oggi 1° settembre a Mosca alle ore 17 locali, presso il Ministero dell'Industria della Federazione Russa, presenti:

si è firmato un importante contratto che, oltre alla rilevanza dell'investimento di circa 1.500 milioni di Euro (di cui 430 milioni di fornitura Danieli), ha le caratteristiche di essere una pietra miliare per la siderurgia russa e paneuropea.

Si tratta infatti di un impianto per produrre acciaio senza l'utilizzo del carbone, utilizzando un impianto di riduzione diretta che carica il preridotto direttamente a caldo a 600 C° nel forno elettrico al posto dell'altoforno e del convertitore ad ossigeno.

È quindi una milestone rilevante verso la produzione di "green steel" con bassissime emissioni GHG grazie all'assenza di carbone nel ciclo produttivo e con un rilevante risparmio energetico per l'utilizzo del preridotto ad alta temperatura.

La tecnologia riduce le emissioni di CO2 del 64%, se paragonata ai blast furnace più moderni ed high-tech di ultima generazione e rappresenta un passo concreto per produrre acciaio con maggior rispetto per l'ambiente.

Per le caratteristiche sopra illustrate, questo impianto è il primo del suo genere non solo in Russia ma anche in Europa.

Questo progetto conferma la proattività Danieli nella ricerca di nuove tecnologie ma sottolinea anche lo spirito innovativo della proprietà, management e team della OMK che fin dalla sua fondazione ha avuto il coraggio di optare per una vision caratterizzata da impianti con tecnologie innovative, utilizzandole poi al meglio e con successo.

Da qui la competitività di OMK sia nei costi di produzione che in termini di qualità dei prodotti che ne fanno uno dei leaders di nicchia nel panorama della siderurgia russa.

La collaborazione OMK -Danieli risale al 2004 con un contratto di fornitura per produrre nastri di acciaio di qualità con il processo di thin slab caster, principalmente utilizzato per la fabbricazione di tubi saldati di qualità API per industria del gas, petrolifera e chimica.

L'impianto denominato QSP (Quality Strip Production) non solo ha raggiunto le aspettative di produttività e qualità, ma le ha anche superate.

E va sottolineato che tutt'ora rimane, dopo 16 anni, l'unico impianto al mondo che produce con la thin slab rolling technology API di alta qualità.

E con la firma di oggi la storia si ripete, con una OMK tesa ad essere tra i front runners nella produzione competitiva e di qualità tra i produttori russi e non solo, grazie allo spirito innovativo che la contraddistingue.

Per la Danieli, invece, questo è un ulteriore progetto che le consente di onorare il motto: "Danieli, the innovative and reliable partner to be front runner in metal production".

Signing Ceremony of the Contract for New DRI Plant and Electric Meltshop Between OMK and Danieli Group

Today September 1st, in Moscow, at 5 p.m. local time, at the Ministry of Industry of the Russian Federation, attending:

an important contract was signed which, besides involving a substantial investment of approximately 1,500 million Euro (430 million of which provided by Danieli), has characteristics that make it stand out as a milestone in the Russian and pan-European steel-making industry.

This plant in fact does not utilise coke to make steel, since it replaces the blast furnace and BOF production route with a direct reduction plant charging hot DRI at 600 C° directly into the electric furnace.

It therefore marks a significant milestone towards the production of green steel with very low GHG emissions, as it does not utilise coke in the production cycle, in addition to achieving considerable energy savings thanks to the use of high temperature DRI.

This technology allows reducing CO2 emissions by 64% if compared to even the latest generation high-tech blast furnaces, and is therefore a tangible step towards a more environmentally-friendly steel-making industry.

For the above-mentioned features, this plant is the first of its kind not only in Russia but also in Europe.

Besides confirming the proactivity of Danieli in its continuous search for new technologies, this project highlights the innovative spirit of the ownership, management and team of OMK which, since its establishment, has always had the courage to opt for a vision characterized by plants based on innovative technologies, using them at best and successfully.

Hence the competitiveness of OMK in production costs and product quality, that makes it one of the niche leaders in the Russian steel-making industry.

The collaboration between OMK and Danieli began in 2004 with a contract for the supply of a plant producing quality steel strip via the thin slab caster process, mainly used for making welded pipes in API grades for the gas & oil and chemical industry.

The plant named QSP (Quality Strip Production) has proved capable of meeting, and even exceeding, all productivity and quality expectations.

And it must be underlined that, after 16 years, it is still the only plant in the world capable of producing high quality API grades with the thin slab rolling technology.

And at today's signing ceremony history repeats itself, with OMK aiming at affirming itself as one the front runners in competitiveness and quality among steel makers in Russia and beyond, thanks to the innovative spirit that has driven it so far.

For Danieli, on the other hand, this project is a further demonstration of its ability to honour its motto: "Danieli, the innovative and reliable partner to be front runner in metal production".
