Danieli ha inviato oggi il proprio impegno a SBTi (Science Based Target Initiative) a raggiungere l'azzeramento delle emissioni di CO2 entro il 2050.

Danieli continua con determinazione il suo percorso verso la neutralità carbonica grazie ad una graduale decarbonizzazione dei processi produttivi e della catena del valore.

Per il CEO Giacomo Mareschi Danieli si tratta di un punto di forza fondamentale per garantire un vantaggio competitivo duraturo di un'azienda.

Sin dal giugno del 2019 Danieli aveva già ottenuto da parte di SBTi la validazione e certificazione dei target di riduzione delle emissioni approvati con una traiettoria well-below 2°C, in linea con le richieste dell'Accordo di Parigi e la conferenza COP21 di Parigi.

Di seguito sono indicati secondo un approccio olistico sia per Scope 1, Scope 2 e Scope 3:

Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) è una partnership di rilevanza globale tra Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), il Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite, il World Resources Institute (WRI) ed il WWF che mira a tradurre un obiettivo di contenimento del riscaldamento globale in un target di riduzione delle emissioni basato su fondamenti scientifici.

Come secondo importante passo nel suo cammino verso la decarbonizzazione, la Danieli nel 2021 ha richiesto ed ha ottenuto da SBTi l'approvazione del commitment verso un target ancora più stimolante, la Business Ambition 1.5°C, in linea con gli obiettivi richiesti dalla conferenza COP26, in corso in questi giorni a Glasgow.

Infine, il percorso continua oggi con un terzo step dove Danieli ha richiesto di essere accettata anche per il Net-Zero Standard – ovvero l'azzeramento delle emissioni, il bilanciamento tra emissioni e assorbimento di carbonio, entro il 2050.

Si ribadisce che la decarbonizzazione della produzione dell'acciaio è un processo avviato a livello mondiale, la Danieli si obiettiva a dare attivamente il proprio apporto offrendo soluzioni tecnologiche innovative per la produzione di Green Steel con bassissime o nulle emissioni di CO2. Nei prossimi decenni si necessiterà di un forte impegno tecnologico ed economico a carico di tutta la catena del valore per raggiungere le traiettorie richieste dall'Accordo di Parigi ed oggi ribadite dal COP26 di Glasgow. Uno degli obiettivi strategici della Danieli è quello di identificare spazi e opportunità di azione non solo per mantenere solido il valore degli asset propri e quelli dei suoi clienti ma anche garantendo dei ritorni futuri, sviluppando soluzioni tecnologiche innovative con un contributo concreto verso la Race to Zero delle emissioni.

"NET – ZERO STANDARD"

Today, Danieli submitted its commitment to reach zero CO2 emissions by 2050 to SBTi (Science-Based Target Initiative).

Danieli is continuing down its path towards carbon neutrality with determination thanks to the gradual decarbonization of its production processes and value chain.

For the CEO Giacomo Mareschi Danieli, this is a fundamental strength to ensure the enduring competitive edge of a company.

In June of 2019, Danieli had already received from SBTi the validation and certification of its emissions reduction targets, approved with a well-below 2°C trajectory, in line with the requirements of the Paris Agreement and the Paris COP21 conference.

Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi) is a global partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the Global Compact of the United Nations, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the WWF, which aims to translate the objective of limiting global warming into a sciencebased emissions reduction target.

In 2021, as the second important step on its pathway towards decarbonization, Danieli requested and received from SBTi an approval of its commitment to an even more challenging target, Business Ambition 1.5°C, in line with the targets set out by COP26, which is currently taking place in Glasgow.

Finally, the path continues today having reached the third step in which Danieli has requested to also be accepted for Net-Zero Standard – or achieving zero emissions by striking a balance between carbon emissions and carbon absorption, by 2050.

It is important to reiterate that the decarbonization of the steelmaking process is taking place on a global scale. Danieli has set a goal of making an active contribution by providing innovative technological solutions for the production of Green Steel with very low or zero CO² emissions. In the coming decades, a strong technological and economic commitment will be needed from the entire value chain in order to achieve the trajectories set forth in the Paris Agreement and today being reiterated at COP26 in Glasgow. One of Danieli's strategic objectives is to pinpoint where there is room and opportunity for action, not only to preserve the solidity of its own assets and those of its customers but also to ensure future returns by developing innovative technological solutions with a tangible contribution to the Race to Zero in emissions reduction.
