Danieli ha aderito oggi al progetto United Nations Global Compact al fine di garantire il proprio contributo per una crescita sostenibile di lungo periodo.
Il CEO ing. Giacomo Mareschi Danieli ha inviato, in nome della Danieli e dei suoi stakeholders, la lettera di adesione al segretario generale della Nazioni Unite H.E. Antonio Guterres condividendo i principi ed le iniziative del UN Global Compact.
La sostenibilità non è più solo un'opzione ma è divenuta uno dei principi chiave per garantire la competitività di un'azienda.
Lanciato nel 2000 come un'iniziativa speciale del Segretario Generale delle Nazioni Unite, il progetto UN Global Compact promuove le linee guida della responsabilità sociale societaria ed indica lo scenario necessario per sviluppare le attività produttive in modo più sostenibile e responsabile.
Oggi UNGC è la più grande iniziativa di sostenibilità sociale societaria al mondo con più di 9.500 aziende e 3.000 altri sottoscrittori in più di 160 paesi che si pone l'obiettivo di allineare le strategie e le attività dei predetti, nel rispetto dei dieci principi di sostenibilità emessi da ONU nel campo dei diritti umani, lavoro, ambiente e anti-corruzione.
Danieli & C S.p.A., uno dei leader mondiali di innovazione e tecnologia per il settore siderurgico, produce impianti sostenibili per produrre Green Steel utilizzando anche la tecnologia di riduzione diretta (DRI) e dei forni elettrici digitali (Digital Melter).
Queste soluzioni presentano una tecnologia di riduzione diretta capace di operare sin da subito con gas naturale o con 100% di idrogeno a condizioni competitive dal punto di vista economico e riducendo in modo significativo le emissioni di CO2.
Anche i forni elettrici con la tecnologia Q-ONE possono essere alimentati completamente da energia elettrica proveniente da fonti rinnovabili come il fotovoltaico oppure l'eolico, contribuendo alla riduzione di Green House Gas.

La decarbonizzazione nella produzione dell'acciaio è un processo ormai avviato a livello mondiale, che necessiterà di un forte impegno tecnologico ed economico nel corso dei prossimi 5-10 anni a carico di tutti i produttori che oggi utilizzano altoforni per la metallurgia primaria, come l'ILVA in Italia.
In questi giorni Danieli ha inoltre ottenuto un rating B da parte di Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), che ha riconosciuto il suo impegno nelle iniziative per la riduzione le emissioni e la riduzione delle sue emissioni dirette di scopo 3 per mitigare il cambiamento climatico verso un economia decarbonizzata e una produzione sostenibile di acciaio.
Il rating B ottenuto è migliore di quello C raggiunto a livello europeo e globale nel settore degli investimenti e di quello D relativo al settore delle macchine pesanti.
Si precisa che CDP è un entità non profit che spinge aziende e governi a ridurre le proprie emissioni di gas serra, proteggere le foreste e salvaguardare le risorse idriche. Oltre 9.600 aziende che rappresentano più del 50% della capitalizzazione della borsa globale hanno divulgato i loro dati ambientali attraverso l'iniziativa CDP nel 2020. CDP classifica le aziende in tutto il mondo su una scala da un minimo di "F" a un massimo di "A". Il Rating "B" indica che l'azienda rientra nella "fascia di gestione" che intraprende "azioni coordinate" in ambito climatico.

Danieli joined on today with the United Nations Global Compact to grant its contribution for a long term sustainable growth.
The CEO eng. Giacomo Mareschi Danieli, in the name of Danieli and its stakeholders, sent the letter of signature to the Secretary General of the United Nations H.E. Antonio Guterres, adhering to the principles and initiatives of the UN Global Compact.
Sustainability is no longer just an option but it's a driver for competitivity in a company.
Launched in 2000 as a special initiative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, the UN Global Compact project promotes the guidelines of corporate social responsibility by indicating the necessary scenario to develop production activities in a more sustainable and responsible way.
Today UNGC is the largest corporate social sustainability initiative in the world with more than 9,500 companies and 3,000 other subscribers in more than 160 countries with the aim of aligning its strategies and activities in compliance with the ten universally accepted principles in the field of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.
Danieli & C S.p.A., one of the world leaders in innovation and technology for the steel sector, offers sustainable plants to produce Green Steel also using direct reduction technology (DRI) and digital electric furnaces (Digital Melter).
This proposal consists of a direct reduction technology capable of operating immediately with natural gas or with 100% hydrogen at competitive conditions from an economic point of view, significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
Even electric furnaces with Q-ONE technology can be powered completely by electricity from renewable sources such as photovoltaics or wind power, contributing to the reduction of Green House Gas.

Decarbonization in steel production is a process that has now started worldwide and will require a strong technological and economic commitment over the next 5-10 years for all producers who today use blast furnaces for primary metallurgy such as ILVA in Italy.
Furthermore Danieli has been awarded these days as a B rating by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), recognizing its engagement in the emission reduction initiatives and Scope 3 emissions to mitigate climate change and its commitment to a low-carbon economy and Green Steel production. This is higher than the CDP European and Global average C for the Capital Goods sector and the one for Powered Machinery which is D.
CDP is a non-profit organization that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, protect forest and safeguard water resources. Over 9,600 companies representing more than 50% of global market capitalization disclosed environmental data through CDP initiative in 2020. CDP ranks companies worldwide on a scale from a minimum of "F" to a maximum of "A". The "B" Rating indicates that the company is the "management band" taking "coordinated actions" on climate issues.
