A "statutory regulatory order" (SRO) issued by the foreign ministry said authorities should freezeAzhar's funds and financial assets and enforce a travel ban and arms embargo against him. The order was issued after the UN's Islamic State and al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee listed Azhar on WednesdayafterChinaremoved its long-standing block to the move.

Foreign Office spokesperson MohammadFaisalsaidPakistan would "immediately enforce the sanctions" on Azhar. He added PrimeMinister ImranKhanhad "clearly stated there is no space for any proscribed organisation or its affiliates to operate from Pakistani territory".

InNewDelhi, Indian officials said Azhar's listing will lead to increased pressure onPakistan fromFATF to crackdownon terror financing. The Paris-based multilateral watchdog placed Pakistan on its "grey list" last year for failing to do enough to counter the funding of groups such as JeM and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Finance minister Arun Jaitely told reporters India will also ask the FATF to put Pakistanona "black list",amove that could invite harsher sanctions. "WewantPakistandowngraded on theFATF list,"hesaid,adding Indiawillmake itsrequest at the body's nextmeeting.

In February, the FATF said after a review that Pakistan "does not demonstrate a proper understanding"of terror financingrisksposedbygroupssuchas JeM. It also urged Pakistan to meet its targets under an action plan before another review in May.

The Indian officials, who didn't want to be named, said FATF's action plan specifically mentionedPakistanhas to demonstrate effective implementation of targeted financial sanctions against all UN-designated terrorists, includingpreventing theraising andmoving of funds, identifying and freezing movable and immovable assets and prohibiting access to funds and financial services.

NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday attachedpropertiesworth ~73.12 lakh belonging to Mohammad Salman,who isunder investigation for terror funding case related to Hafiz Mohammad Saeed led Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FiF), the financial arm of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

TheFiF terror fundingracket was busted by the National InvestigationAgency (NIA) last year inDelhi andHaryana'sPalwal.One Dubai based operative of FiF – Mohammad Kamran – was spearheading the funding activities in India.TheED investigatedSalmanandotherson the basis of NIA FIR and found that FiF transferred huge funds – around ~57 lakh - using hawala channels. Salman used these funds to construct a mosque – Khulafa-e-Rashideen — in Palwal'sUttawarvillage and for the marriages ofMuslim girls. FIF, registered as a charity in Pakistan has been blacklisted by the UN Security Council but it continues to raise funds for terror activities of LeT through bank accounts opened using pseudonyms. Its funding comes from madrasas, Pakistan government, its spy agency ISI, its army,businessmenandnon-resident Pakistanis. यूपीए की अध्यक्ष व रायबरेली की सांसद सोनिया गांधी ने गुरुवार को कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री ने कितने वादे किए थे वह सब झूठ निकले।

उन्होंने यहां चुनावी सभा में कहा कि आपके हाथ में वोट रूपी मजबूत हथियार है। इसका प्रयोग कर अपना भविष्य बना लें और झूठे वादे करने वाली सरकार को सबक भी सिखा दें। उन्होंने कहा कि मेरे दिल में रायबरेली के लोगों के लिए खास जगह है। यह हमेशा बनी रहेगी। सोनिया गांधी ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने किसानों की आय दोगुनी करने का वादा किया था लेकिन किसानों की आय आधी भी नहीं बची। आवारा पशुओं ने किसानों को तबाह कर दिया है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री ने खातों में 15 लाख रुपये भेजने का भी वादा किया था। बेरोजगारों को नौकरी देने का भी वादा किया, लेकिन वह भूल गए।

दिनभर रायबरेली में अकेले चुनाव प्रचार करने के बाद कांग्रेस महासचिव प्रियंका गांधी वाडा ने मां सोनिया गांधी के साथ सरेनी की जनसभा में मंच भी साझा किया। उन्होंने मतदाताओं को याद दिलाया कि सोनिया गांधी ने जनपद के विकास में कितने कीर्तिमान स्थापित किए। उन्होंने इस बार रिकॉर्ड मतों से चनाव जिताने की अपील करते हुए कहा कि मोदी सरकार ने रायबरेली के लिए मंजूर हुए कई बड़ी परियोजनाओं को पूरा नहीं होने दिया। इस बार सरकार बनी तो रुके हुए काम तो पूरे होंगे ही, और भी विकास की योजनाएं रायबरेली में लागू की जाएंगी।

योगी को चुनाव आयोग का नोटिस

नईदिल्ली। चुनाव आयोग ने गुरुवार को उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ को उनको कथित 'बाबर की औलाद' टिप्पणी को लेकर कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किया।

चुनाव आयोग ने उल्लेख किया है कि उत्तर प्रदेश के संभल में 19 अप्रैल को आयोजित एक रैली को संबोधित करते हए योगी ने कहा. क्या आप देश की सत्ता आतंकवादियों को सौंप देंगे जो खुद को बाबर की औलाद कहते हैं। उनको जो बजरंगबली का विरोध करते हैं। आयोग ने उन्हें इस नोटिस का जवाब देने के लिए 24 घंटे का समय दिया है। इससे पहले योगी के चुनाव प्रचार करने पर 72 घंटे का प्रतिबंध लगा चुका है।
