Press release
CY4GATE HAS AWARDED THREE PROJECTS, PART OF THREE INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH TENDERS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE EUROPEAN DEFENSE FUND (EDF) AND THE DIGITAL EUROPE PROGRAMME (DEP)
THE PROJECTS HAVE A TOTAL VALUE OF APPROXIMATELY €1.7 MILLION OVER 3 YEARS STARTING FROM 2025 THEY THEREFORE INCREASE THE GROUP BACKLOG
THE ACTIVITIES WILL BE CONDUCTED THROUGH THREE CONSORTIA AWARDED IN WHICH THE COMPANY WILL PROVIDE ITS CONTRIBUTION TO RESEARCH AND INNOVATION ON CYBER SECURITY AND INTELLIGENCE
CY4GATE CONTINUES TO CONSOLIDATE ITS INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE ON CYBER SECURITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DEFENSE AND DIGITAL MARKET
Rome, 21 May 2024 - CY4GATE (CY4.MI), national and European player in cyber security and cyber intelligence, has been awarded three international research tenders in the context of the European Defense Fund (EDF) and the Digital Europe Programme (DEP) for a total value of approximately €1.7 million in 3 years starting from 2025, increasing the Group's backlog.
European Defense Fund (EDF) projects
There were 54 community Research and Development projects of the EDF fund for approximately €1 billion, with the aim of supporting technological excellence on a vast portfolio of defense capabilities considered critical, including cyber defense. The projects are selected following invitations to present proposals (so-called calls) defined on the basis of the thematic priorities agreed by the Member States in the framework of the common security and defense policy and following a long and complex selection process, the successful consortia are identified.
The Fund has been given a budget of almost €8 billion for the period 2021-2027.
The first of two projects:
Called "ECYSAP EYE", it was awarded to an international consortium of which Cy4Gate is a member and aims to create a European cyber situational awareness platform for a greater understanding of what happens in the cyber space which will allow the adoption no longer a reactive but proactive defense posture which will also include the ability to propose options to decision makers to choose from, in the management of crisis scenarios. The project, lasting 3 years and with a total value of approximately €37 million, sees companies and research institutions from eight countries as protagonists.

The second of the two projects
Called "FMB Tech", it was awarded to a consortium of which Cy4Gate is a member, and has the aim of defining and specifying the best and innovative technologies that will contribute to the development of the Main Battle Tanks of the future, vehicles supplied to the land armed forces which will have to face new and complex operational scenarios, which will present a high rate of digitalisation and the ability to interface with unmanned systems as well as increase the efficiency of crews thanks to the use of artificial intelligence. Also in this context, Cy4gate's role will be to identify the most innovative technologies to ensure the cyber defense of vehicles.
The project has a duration of 3 years and a total value of approximately €20 million distributed among companies and academic institutions in 13 European nations.
All military operations now rely fully on a series of ICT infrastructures and services whose resilience is put to the test by the sophisticated cyberattack capabilities that threat actors put in place. The creation of technologies capable of dealing with the evolving threat by strengthening resilience to cyberattacks is, therefore, a must, particularly in very challenging operational contexts with technologies subjected to increasingly pressing forms of digital aggression.
Digital Europe Programme (DEP) projects
The Digital Europe Programme has the same operating methods as the EDF and a budget of €7.5 billion for the period 2021 - 2027.
The Programme aims to support the digital transformation of industry and promote better exploitation of the industrial potential of innovation, research and technological development policies for the benefit of citizens and businesses across the Union in particular on high performance computing topics (High Performance Computing), artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and advanced digital skills.
The third project:
Called "Italian Digital Media Observatory" (IDMO), from the name of the national observatory that promoted it, it was awarded to a consortium made up of national companies of which Cy4Gate is a member and aims to create technologies that - leveraging advanced artificial intelligence algorithms - are able to identify fake news that create disinformation, through real-time verification of the contents, thus supporting the Observatory in promptly verifying the reliability of what is published. Cy4Gate, in the context of the project, will provide its contribution in particular on the topic of AI.
The project, lasting 3 years, has a total value of approximately €2.5 million and sees 8 companies and national research institutions as protagonists.
Cy4Gate has been pursuing relevant Research and Innovation initiatives for years also in international contexts and in synergy with other partners in a cross-fertilization ecosystem that enriches the company in terms of skills and capabilities, allowing it to confirm itself as one of the national points of reference and European on the topics of cyber security and cyber intelligence.

Press release
Emanuele Galtieri, CEO and General Manager of Cy4Gate Group said: "We have internally developed relevant technical skills with human resources who have a deep level of knowledge in the specific domains in which we operate. This is what has allowed us to be recognized at an international level and in very competitive contexts, allowing us to participate in cutting-edge projects in the digital and cyber domain.
Very disruptive innovations in digital are often born on the input and initiative of the Defense market as they are systems created to act in often extreme operational scenarios. And being on board these projects with important partners from all EU countries represents a great growth opportunity for us that we intend to seize and capitalize on so as not to be followers in areas that employ technologies subject to rapid obsolescence.
Furthermore, having the opportunity to contribute to a very hot topic today such as the identification and realtime management of fake news with the use of new AI algorithms will allow us to open up to new contexts that are still little explored which will add further value to the products of decision intelligence in the portfolio".
