The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– CPU reports scheduled development of turnover and operating result Augsburg, May 17th, 2002 In the first quarter 2002, CPU Softwarehouse AG, Augsburg (security code No. 545.430), achieved scheduled improvement to the EBITDA- and EBIT-based result, despite a slight fall in turnover to 2.1 mill. Euros (previous year 2.6 mill. Euros). Compared to the same period last year, the EBITDA improved by 24%, from minus 1.3 mill. Euros to minus 1.0 mill. Euros, the EBIT rose by 65% from minus 3.3 mill. Euros to minus 1.2 mill. Euros. The cash burn rate (cash flow from operative business activities) amounted to 0.8 mill. Euros (previous year 1.1 mill. Euros), this being a clear reduction of 28%. As of 31.03.2002 CPU’s available liquidity amounted to 11.3 mill. Euros. Through further cost-cutting measures (from 5.9 mill. Euros in the same period last year to 3.3 mill. Euros in the first quarter 2002), the scheduled completion of the design phase for the new CPU C6 platform, reinforced sales efforts and a focus on extended consulting services, CPU is optimally equipped to profit significantly from the end to the investment bottleneck in the financial services branch, expected at the end of 2002.
