AUTOMOTIVE DIVISION ACQUISITION - AUTOPRO TOOWOOMBA, QLD
Coventry Group Ltd (CGL) has acquired the Autopro Toowoomba business from Kenlynn Automotive Pty Ltd for a consideration of \$0.7 million.
The business is well established and services a broad customer base in the Queensland region of Toowoomba, distributing automotive parts and accessories to both trade and refail customers
"This is a bolt-on acquisition for CGL's automotive subsidiary Coventry Auto Parts Pty Ltd (CAP). The acquisition provides CAP with branch representation in a key regional centre in the Queensland market and further increases CAP's growing position in this market," said Chris Glenn, CGL's Chief Executive Officer.
Membership to the Autopro franchise has ceased with product to be supplied from CAP's Brisbane based distribution centre or direct from suppliers.
The acquisition follows the recent purchase of Thompson's Spare Parts and Rod Smith Parts and Bearings and now provides CAP with a network of thirteen branches in Queensland
The business had sales of \$2.8 million in the 2003/04 financial year and provides significant growth and cost synergies for CAP. The purchase price was equivalent to 4.2 times the adjusted 2003/04 EBITA.
CGL continues to pursue growth and acquisition opportunities in the automotive parts and accessories market in NSW and Queensland that support the growth of the CAP branch network, contribute positively to earnings, and meet CGL's required return on capital hurdles.
