CHICAGO, 9 DE FEBRERO DE 2022. ACCIONA Energía ha comprado el proyecto fotovoltaico Red‐ Tailed Hawk de 458MWp (350MW nominales) cerca de Houston (Texas) a Avondale Solar, LLC y Solar Plus Development, Inc., promotores del proyecto a través de su filial AP Solar Holdings, LLC.

La planta será la mayor instalación fotovoltaica de ACCIONA Energía en el mundo y supondrá una inversión estimada de US\$460M (€407M). La construcción comenzará en el tercer trimestre de 2022 y la planta estará plenamente operativa a principios de 2024. Red‐Tailed Hawk estará conectada al nudo de red de Houston, con una elevada demanda y capacidad de inyección, al igual que la cercana planta fotovoltaica de Fort Bend que ACCIONA Energía ya está construyendo.

Red‐Tailed Hawk tendrá una capacidad nominal de 350MW de energía solar fotovoltaica, suficiente para cubrir las necesidades energéticas de 66.500 hogares en la región. El proyecto generará unos 400 empleos durante la fase de construcción y 15 puestos fijos una vez que esté operativo. Además, formará parte del programa de Gestión del Impacto Social de ACCIONA, que reinvierte una parte de los ingresos anuales de sus instalaciones para mejorar la formación, el bienestar y la gestión medioambiental de las comunidades donde opera.

Red‐Tailed Hawk será el tercer proyecto fotovoltaico de ACCIONA Energía en Estados Unidos, donde ya ha comenzado la construcción de otras dos plantas solares: Fort Bend (315MWp) en Texas y High Point (125MWp) en Illinois. Además, la compañía es propietaria y opera diez parques eólicos con más de 1GW de capacidad y la planta termoeléctrica de Nevada Solar One de 64MW.

Una vez completadas las plantas de Red‐Tailed Hawk, Fort Bend y High Point, ACCIONA Energía contará con más de 2GW de capacidad fotovoltaica, termosolar y eólica en Estados Unidos. En total la compañía cuenta con una cartera de proyectos de 4GW.

United States. Construction phase begins in 2022

CHICAGO, 9 FEBRUARY 2022. ACCIONA Energía has acquired Red‐Tailed Hawk, a 350‐ MWac/458‐MWdc photovoltaic (PV) project near Houston in Wharton County, Texas, from Avondale Solar, LLC and Solar Plus Development, Inc. AP Solar Holdings, LLC, a fullservice, utility‐ scale solar power project developer and affiliate of Avondale Solar, LLC, and Solar Plus Development Inc. developed the project.

The plant will be the largest photovoltaic installation of ACCIONA Energía in the world and will have an estimated investment of US\$460M (€407M). The construction phase is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2022, and the plant is expected to be fully operational in 2024. Red‐ Tailed Hawk will be connected to the Houston grid, which has a high demand and injection capacity, just like ACCIONA Energía's nearby photovoltaic plant of Fort Bend, already under construction.

Red‐Tailed Hawk will have a capacity of 350 MWac of photovoltaic solar energy, enough to meet the energy needs of 66,500 Texas households. The project is expected to create approximately 400 jobs during the peak construction phase and 15 permanent jobs once operational. Additionally, it falls under ACCIONA's Social Impact Management program, which re‐invests a portion of the project's annual revenue to support education, wellness, and environmental stewardship programs in the community where it operates.

Red‐Tailed Hawk is the company's third photovoltaic plant in the United States, where ACCIONA Energía has already begun the construction of two other solar farms: Fort Bend (315MWdc) in Texas and High Point (125MWdc) in Illinois. In addition, the company also owns and operates ten wind farmsin the US, totaling more than 1GW of wind capacity, and the 64MW Nevada Solar One concentrated solar power facility.
