Corazon Mining Limited (ASX: CZN) (Corazon or Company) is pleased to present its Quarterly Activities Report for the period ending 31 December 2022 (Quarter).
Lynn Lake Nickel Sulphide Project – Canada
Overview
Corazon owns 100% of the Lynn Lake Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Sulphide Project (Lynn Lake) in Manitoba, Canada (Figure 1) - a prolific historical nickel-copper-cobalt mining centre that was mined for 24 years before closure in 1976. Corazon is the first company to have control of the entire Lynn Lake nickel camp since mine closure. Highlights of the Lynn Lake Project include:
-
100% ownership of nickel sulphide district
-
Large JORC resources
-
Exciting and proven exploration upside
-
Beneficial infrastructure that would reduce start-up capital requirements
-
Township originally built for the historical mining operation
-
Hydro-Power – an important component for any future sustainable and environmentally compliant mining operation
-
Nearby to emerging North American and European rechargeable battery industries
Corazon’s two-pronged strategy at Lynn Lake is focused on development and exploration. Mining Centre studies are seeking cost and performance efficiencies in mining and processing practices, progressing the possible development of a significant, low-cost mining operation.
Exploration in the mine area is looking to expand the near-surface JORC resource base in search of start-up feed to complement existing resources at depth. Exploration within the greater project area has focused on the Fraser Lake Complex (FLC), where a large magmatic sulphide system, bigger than the Lynn Lake mine area footprint, has been discovered. Together, this work will enable the determination of value for Lynn Lake at a time when there is an expectation of future increased demand for metals.

Drilling Underway at Lynn Lake Nickel Sulphide Project
Drilling at the Lynn Lake Mining Centre is testing new areas to potentially expand the project’s resource base.
During the Quarter, Corazon announced the commencement of the next phase of drilling at the Lynn Lake Project (Lynn Lake) in the province of Manitoba, Canada (Figure 1 and 2) (ASX announcement 5 December 2022).
Drilling will include an initial exploration program of six holes for approximately 2000 metres, testing four targets within the Lynn Lake Mining Centre (Mining Centre) (additional holes are planned, subject to results), and a program of metallurgical drilling designed to secure samples for further metallurgical testwork.
Exploration Drilling – A Plug – Lynn Lake Mining Centre
Geological and resource modelling studies underway within the Lynn Lake Mining Centre have identified a number of areas not effectively tested by prior drilling that provide the opportunity for the discovery of additional mineralisation in and around known nickel sulphide deposits and mine infrastructure.
Four target areas within the A Plug at the Mining Centre have been identified for drilling: the “D-extensions”, “Upper F”, “E-J North” and “K-D Hotspot” (Figure 2). The initial program will include six holes for a total of approximately 2000 metres. Subsequent drilling will be determined by the results from this initial program.
Metallurgical Drilling – EL Plug – Lynn Lake Mining Centre
The metallurgical drilling currently underway at the EL Plug within the Mining Centre is designed to provide samples for Corazon’s next phase of metallurgical testwork - an integral part of the current mining and processing studies being undertaken at Lynn Lake (ASX announcement 13 July 2022). Work currently underway includes:
-
Finalising the flotation process;
-
Investigation of pre-flotation ore-upgrade of low-grade material; and
-
Initial work on the amenability of Lynn Lake mineralisation for the production of battery grade products for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
The historical recoveries and concentrate grades, along with Corazon’s work to date, suggests the Lynn Lake mineralisation performs very well via flotation. Additionally, such ore types typically have no problem in producing high-quality battery grade products.
Much of Corazon’s current metallurgical testwork is focused on pre-flotation ore-upgrade and on assessing several different processing options. Such processing methods are commonplace within the base metal mining industry and incorporating upgrade technology into the processing flowchart may have significant positive knock-on benefits for the Lynn Lake Project, which has a very large resource of low-grade material that links the higher-grade deposits together. Such benefits include:
-
Upgrading sub-grade mineralisation to run-of-mine grade and extending the potential mine-life;
-
Simplifying interpreted mineralised envelopes and stope designs by incorporating the marginal grade material, resulting in reduced cut-off grades;
-
Increasing stope size and moving the Project towards a large-tonnage, low-cost mining operation; and
-
Undertaking ore-upgrading processing underground to reduce materials handling costs associated with moving marginal grade material and reducing increased capital costs associated with a large tonnage underground operation (by hoisting less waste to the surface).

Results from Fraser Lake Complex Exploration Drilling Received
Corazon’s most recent phase of exploration drilling at Lynn Lake tested three new areas within the highly prospective Fraser Lake Complex (FLC) south of the Mining Centre (ASX announcement 23 August 2022). Samples submitted for multi-element laboratory analysis have now been returned and are currently being interpreted. The targets were generated based on geophysics, geochemistry and geology assessment. This drilling intersected favourable rock types, returning low-levels of nickel and copper sulphide mineralisation outside of the mineralised trends previously identified at the FLC.
It is expected that interrogation of these results will further advance the Corazon’s understanding of the FLC system and aid vectoring to areas of potential sulphide accumulation for drilling in 2023.
Mt Gilmore Cobalt-Copper-Gold Project – N.S.W.
Overview
The Mt Gilmore Cobalt-Copper-Gold Project (Mt Gilmore) is located 35 kilometres from the city of Grafton in north-eastern New South Wales (N.S.W.) (Figure 3). Corazon owns an 80% interest in Mt Gilmore and is managing and sole funding exploration until any future decision to mine is made.
Much of Mt Gilmore’s historical exploration has focused on the Cobalt Ridge prospect (Cobalt Ridge) - a rare high-grade cobalt sulphide deposit. Work by Corazon since acquisition in mid-2016, underpins the belief that Mt Gilmore is prospective for hosting large intrusive related copper-gold systems, enriched in cobalt.
Corazon’s recent exploration of the prospective “Mt Gilmore trend” has uncovered a major copper–cobalt– silver-gold geochemical trend, potentially representing a +20 kilometre-long district-scale exploration play for large intrusive related copper-cobalt-gold deposits.

Corazon Secures Government Funding to Advance Mt Gilmore Cu-Au-Co Project
Innovative mineral geochemistry studies testing for Porphyry Copper Deposits underway at Mt Gilmore to define drill targets.
During the Quarter, Corazon announced it is the recipient of an Australian Government Innovation Connections Grant to help advance exploration and assessment of the Mt Gilmore Project (ASX Announcement 13 December 2022).
Corazon is currently undertaking a geochemical testwork program with the University of Tasmania’s (UTAS), Centre of Ore Deposit and Earth Sciences (CODES). The initial phase of this program was successful, confirming that the Mt Gilmore Project hosts key geochemical characteristics specific to large porphyry copper-gold deposits (ASX announcement 12 July 2022).
The second phase of the program is currently underway and is designed to expand on the first phase studies and deliver more precise targeting from which exploration drilling can be planned (ASX announcement 4 October 2022).
This study is titled “Enhanced geochemical targeting at the Mt Gilmore Cu-Au-Co trend” and has successfully been awarded an Australian Government Innovation Connections Grant to help CODES complete its geochemical studies at Mt Gilmore.
Funding was awarded on a co-funding basis, with CODES receiving a total of $100,000, including $50,000 from the Government grant and $50,000 provided by Corazon.
Exploration Strategy and Immediate Focus
The surface anomalism for metals at Mt Gilmore covers a large area (Figure 4). The recognition of the surface expression of a large hydrothermal system of more than 20 kilometres in strike (ASX announcement 5 February 2019), possibly associated with mineralised intrusive rocks (ASX announcement 9 October 2020), presents an exciting exploration undertaking for Corazon.
Recent work by the CODES/UTAS (ASX announcement 12 July 2022) supports the potential for innovative Mineral Chemistry Vectoring Studies to define the location of heat centres of Mt Gilmore’s hydrothermal system.
The results from the CODES/UTAS studies to date for both the Gordonbrook Hill and May Queen areas at Mt Gilmore have been impressive. Gordonbrook Hill displays both a large porphyry copper deposit and skarn style signature, while the May Queen prospect has a strong skarn signature, trending to a porphyry system and notably into the “giant” porphyry copper deposit category.
Field mapping in August 2022 focused on the area between Gordonbrook Hill through to the north of the May Queen prospect. Approximately 55 sites were sampled and more than 180 kilograms of rock sample were transported to the laboratories at the University of Tasmania. Studies on the Gordonbrook Hill samples are expected to be completed over the coming months.
This work also forms the basis of a submission for the Innovation Connections Grant, provided by the Federal Government of Australia.

Miriam Nickel Sulphide Project, W.A.
Overview
The Miriam Nickel Sulphide Project (Miriam) is located approximately 10 kilometres south-southwest of Coolgardie on a trend of ultramafics best identified by the Miriam and Nepean (Auroch Minerals, ASX: AOU) nickel deposits (Figure 5). Corazon holds 100% of the Miriam Project and has sole control and management of the project. Miriam is a highly prospective nickel exploration project, representing a strategic addition to Corazon’s portfolio of nickel sulphide assets.
The Miriam Project covers an area of about six kilometres by 1.5 kilometers and comprises five (5) Prospecting Licence applications (P15/6135 to P15/6139 inclusive). Subsequent to the end of the Quarter, three of the Prospecting Licences were granted to Corazon (ASX announcement 25 January 2023). This granting permitted the Company to commence its planned exploration activities, starting with a ground electromagnetic (EM) geophysical survey testing the extents of the Miriam Nickel Sulphide Deposit and trends.
The Miriam Deposit was discovered in 1969, with ‘high nickel tenor’ massive and disseminated sulphides intersected in drilling. Miriam has not been extensively explored and there is extensive untested opportunity for nickel sulphide mineralisation at depth and along strike from previous drilling. The existence of the defined target trend will allow Corazon to undertake focused and detailed exploration programs, utilising modern higher-powered electromagnetic (EM) geophysics.

High Grade Lithium at Miriam Project in Western Australia
Assay results returned from rock samples of recently discovered pegmatite outcrops with high concentrations of weathered spodumene.
Post Quarter-end, Corazon announced high-grade lithium assay results from spodumene-bearing pegmatite within the Miriam Project (ASX announcement 17 January 2023).
Corazon previously reported the discovery of spodumene (lithium mineral) bearing pegmatite along with widespread indicators of pegmatite in a field-mapping program undertaken at the Miriam Project. The identification of spodumene was verified using Raman Spectroscopy (Figure 1) (ASX announcements 8 December and 15 December 2022).
Selected samples were subsequently submitted for laboratory analysis to confirm the lithium content and have validated the Company’s initial findings, including high grade values of between 1.01% and 1.85% Li2O.
Notwithstanding the high grades of weakly weathered samples, it is noted that the strongly weathered surface samples have suffered significant lithium depletion.
Rock samples of spodumene-rich outcropping pegmatite were extracted from a historical prospecting trench (examples shown in Figure 6). At surface, this pegmatite is weathered and the spodumene is greyish-green in colour, and replaced by albite and ultrafine muscovite (alteration and weathering processes). In fresh pegmatite samples, the spodumene is unaltered, yellowish white in natural light and shows orange luminescence under long wavelength UV light. Spodumene crystals observed are generally 1.5-3 centimetres in width and up to 40 centimetres in length.
Rock samples submitted for analysis have an estimated spodumene content up to approximately 30%. These visual descriptions should not be used to determine the lithium content of the pegmatite. Samples submitted for laboratory analysis are variable in character so as to acquire information that will identify the effects alteration and weathering has on the overall lithium content within the pegmatite.
Cautionary statement: Visual estimates should not be considered a proxy or substitute for laboratory analysis, which are required to determine the grade of the mineralisation; assay results are expected in late December 2022.
It is expected the samples of pegmatite are a very small representation of the intrusive units that appears to strike north-south and can be traced via indications within the soil profile for at least 10 metres. The true dimensions of the pegmatites, or the representativeness of these outcrops for the entire pegmatite, cannot be determined without drilling.
The intensively weathered spodumene-bearing pegmatite samples have Li2O contents between 500 ppm to 700 ppm. Assays from the less weathered pegmatitic material returned much higher grades, up to 1.85% Li2O. Roman Spectroscopy and whole-rock geochemistry suggest that lithium depletion on intensively weathered sample is significant.
Samples were also taken from a weathered pegmatite located approximately 800 metres to the westnorthwest of the pegmatite, with strong visible spodumene and good lithium results. These samples have elevated lithium assays, similar to the weathered samples of the spodumene bearing pegmatite and greater than expected from barren pegmatites. This pegmatite potentially supports the prospectivity of the Miriam Project to host additional lithium-bearing pegmatites.
