Standard & Poor's Ratings Services informed the Company today that it has
lowered its long-term corporate credit rating on Continental AG to BB from
BBB-. The A-3 short-term corporate credit rating on the group was lowered
to B. The outlook is negative. At the same time, the ratings were removed
from CreditWatch where they had been placed with negative implications on
Dec. 15, 2008.
