On the basis of final figures, Continental AG, Hanover, realized an
adjusted EBIT* (EBIT before amortization of intangibles from PPA,
consolidation and special effects) of EUR413.4 million in the third quarter
of 2009 (PY: EUR319.1 million). With third-quarter sales of EUR5,337
million (PY: EUR5,892 million), the adjusted EBIT margin is 7.8% (PY:
5.5%). The most significant special effect in the third quarter is a
non-cash effective goodwill impairment in the three Automotive divisions in
the amount of EUR875.8 million. It is essentially due to this impairment
that a negative EBIT of EUR-911.8 million was reported for Q3
(PY: EUR162.7 million).

In the first nine months of 2009 the corporation realized total sales of
EUR14,400.2 million
(PY: EUR19,146.0 million) and an adjusted EBIT of EUR662.1 million (PY:
EUR1,502.8 million). The EBIT reported for the first nine months amounts to
EUR-1,038.0 million (PY: EUR1,075.1 million).

The Continental Corporation's financial report for the first nine months of
the current fiscal year will be published today on October 29.
