On August 26, 2008 we were notified by Capital Research and Management
Company, Los Angeles, USA pursuant to section 21 (1) WpHG of the following:

On 21 August 2008, the stake of Capital Research and Management Company in
the voting rights in Continental AG, Vahrenwalder Straße 9, 30165 Hannover,
fell below the threshold of 5%. On that date, Capital Research and
Management Company held 4.35% in relation to all voting rights in
Continental AG (voting rights arising from 7,042,535 ordinary shares
(Stammaktien)). Continental AG has issued ordinary shares only.

4.35% of all voting rights in Continental AG (voting rights arising from
7,042,535 ordinary shares) were attributed to Capital Research and
Management Company pursuant to section 22 (1) sent. 1 no 6 WpHG. Of those
voting rights arising from 7,042,535 ordinary shares, voting rights arising
from 4,870,290 ordinary shares (3.01%) were held by Europacific Growth
Fund, Inc., Los Angeles, USA, thus being a shareholder holding a stake of
3% or more in the voting rights in Continental AG.
