Hanover, August 23, 2008. The Supervisory Board of Continental AG made a
forward-looking personnel decision on Saturday in Hanover. Effective
September 1, Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann (47) has been appointed as new
chairman of the Executive Board. He has been a member of the Continental
Executive Board since October 2005 and is succeeding Manfred Wennemer (60),
whose request to be granted early release from his mandate effective August
31, 2008, was accepted by the Supervisory Board.

Member of the Executive Board Dr. Alan Hippe was appointed Deputy Chairman
of the Executive board at the same time. He is responsible for the
Passenger and Light Truck Tires division and CFO of Continental AG. In
addition, as of October 1 he will receive responsibility of the ContiTech
division from Gerhard Lerch (65) who is retiring.
