PRESS RELEASE

EMBARGOED UNTIL 17. July 17:40 CET

DEME has won new contracts worth 250 million EUR for energy-related projects

17 July 2013 PB 350

Zwijndrecht 17 July 2013 (17:40 CET) – Within the DEME group recently, a great many assignments for large, energy-related projects have been awarded to a range of different companies. The assignments will be executed for oil and gas companies and businesses working within the renewable energy sector and represent a total value of 250 million EUR.

In Santa Marta, Colombia, Dredging International will carry out dredging work for a turning basin and mooring facilities for the Drummond Project. This large-scale project is part of preparations for new loading installations for coal. Drummond Colombia, Colombia's largest coal processor, is aiming to modernise and optimise the transport of coal between the mainland and export ships as a result. The work, starting in July 2013, involves the use of four trailing suction hopper dredgers and will take about six months to complete.

In northwest Venezuela, near Punto Fijo, Tideway is to install a landfall for a pipeline for Saipem. The client Cardon IV is developing a gas field 90 kilometres off the coast at this location. The job involves dredging of a 6.5 kilometre trench at sea and installing a landfall. The trench will then be backfilled with locally sourced sand. This work must be completed by the beginning of 2014.

Still in Venezuela, Tideway has obtained additional work for the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA. On behalf of Saipem, Tideway will carry out a landfall on the northern side of the peninsula for the Dragon gas field. The task includes dredging of a trench, building a stone platform and anchoring it in a rock face. The work is planned for this autumn.

In the context of the work for the new Wheatstone LNG Project for Chevron in Western Australia, Tideway will level the seabed and install erosion protection measures as part of a joint venture. This work will be carried out in the first half of 2014.

In the Irish Sea, off Barrow-in-Furness, GeoSea will soon be installing a 100 m tall meteorological mast on a monopile. This met mast will measure offshore wind, precipitation and radiation.

In India, ISD (International Seaport Dredging) has obtained two new assignments in Orissa, on the east coast of India. ISD will carry out dredging work for the access channel and create the turning basin for a coal and bulk goods terminal for Gopalpur Port. The sand obtained as a result will be partially used for beach replenishment. The work will be carried out by two trailing suction hopper dredgers and one cutter suction dredger. The will begin working in August and is set to be completed six months later.

The Dhamra Port Company Limited also awarded the maintenance dredging contact for 2013 to ISD.
