Saint-Gobain announces the construction of a new plasterboard line at its Mogi das Cruzes site near São Paulo, Brazil. It will be the Group's third plasterboard line in the country.
This investment will enable Saint-Gobain to substantially increase its plasterboard production capacity in Brazil, in order to meet the rapidly growing local demand and to consolidate Saint-Gobain's leadership position on the light construction markets in Latin America.
This new line, which will be operational in early 2023, complies with the highest standards in terms of industrial performance, safety, energy consumption and environmental compliance. It will generate 15% less CO2 emissions than the first line and increase the internal reuse of waste by 50%.
Saint-Gobain has been present in Brazil since 1937, with 56 plants and nearly 12,000 employees. The Group holds a leading position in interior and exterior solutions, facades and ceilings.
Saint-Gobain designs, manufactures and distributes materials and solutions for the construction, mobility, healthcare and other industrial application markets. Developed through a continuous innovation process, they can be found everywhere in our living places and daily life, providing wellbeing, performance and safety, while addressing the challenges of sustainable construction, resource efficiency and the fight against climate change. This strategy of responsible growth is guided by the Saint-Gobain purpose, "MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER HOME", which responds to the shared ambition of all the women and men in the Group to act every day to make the world a more beautiful and sustainable place to live in.
