COCHLEAR ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Sydney, Australia, 2[nd] August 2010: Cochlear Limited (ASX:COH)

Cochlear Limited, the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, announced that Mrs Yasmin Allen has today been appointed to the Board.

Mrs Allen has over 20 years’ experience in business, investment banking and as a company director. Mrs Allen is currently an independent non-executive director of Insurance Australia Group (IAG), Chairman of Macquarie Specialised Asset Management (MSAM) and is a Member of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army.

Mrs Allen will become a member of the Audit and Risk, Technology and Innovation, and Nominations Committees.

Commenting on the appointment, Cochlear Chairman, Mr Rick Holliday-Smith said, “Mrs Allen brings high quality skills and experience to Cochlear that will be relevant for the next phase of our development and growth.
