COMMUNIQUÉ

The National Power Grid Company Transelectrica SA informs the shareholders and investors about its signing the execution contracts for the project of common interest "Internal line between Cernavoda and Stalpu" financed from European funds under the "Europe Interconnection Mechanism".

After the procurement procedure Transelectrica signed execution contracts for 3 of the 4 project components, namely for the 400 kV OHL Cernavoda - Stalpu (contract 919/30.10.2019 amounting to 287 million Lei), the 400 kV substation Stalpu (contract 920/31.10.2019 amounting to 58.4 million Lei) and extending the 400 kV substation Cernavoda (contract 168/11.02.2019 amounting to 11.5 million Lei). The execution term is 24 months from the date provided in the work beginning order.

The Cernavoda - Stalpu internal line aims at consolidating the cross section between the western Black Sea coast (eastern part of Romania) and the rest of the European system, while also contributing to enhancing the Romanian electricity transmission grid, to greater interconnection capacity between Romania and Bulgaria and to integrating the wind output from Dobrogea region. The new 400 kV line will be 160 km long, and to commission it we need building the 400 kV substation Stalpu and extending the 400 kV substations Cernavoda and Gura Ialomitei.

The "Internal line between Cernavoda and Stalpu" is the first project of common interest carried out by CNTEE Transelectrica SA, which received European financing in sum of maximum 27 million Euro under the CEF mechanism. It has the following components:

  • The 400 kV double circuit overhead line (OHL) Cernavoda Stalpu;
  • The 400 kV substation Stalpu;
  • Extending the 400 kV substation Cernavoda;
  • Extending the 400 kV substation Gura Ialomitei.
