ASX RELEASE ǀ CLEARVUE TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED (ASX:CPV | OTC:CVUEF)

ClearVue wins Hong Kong Govt tender for Solar Glass Study

HIGHLIGHTS

  • ClearVue has won a tender to complete a Solar Glass Study for the Hong Kong Government’s Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD)

  • The Hong Kong government paid-for study will assess the energy harvesting and performance aspects of the ClearVue photovoltaic glazing in-situ

  • Completion of the paid Study, and its relevant verified data will be used to confirm the value of the ClearVue product for use in future Hong Kong government building projects

  • The Study contract became effective from notification of the tender win on 1 March 2023

2 March 2023: Smart building materials company ClearVue Technologies Limited (ASX:CPV) ( ClearVue or the Company ) is pleased to announce that it has won a tender to complete a measurement and verification study ( M&V Study ) with the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department ( EMSD ) of the Government of Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region ( SAR ) of the People's Republic of China.

The paid M&V Study will involve the installation of five (5) ClearVuePV® integrated glazing unit (IGU) panels (approximately 13.2 sqm of glazing) at the EMSD’s own headquarters in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

The Study will undertake a comprehensive assessment of the performance of the ClearVue[PV] solar glass to test the optical properties, energy harvesting and energy efficiency effectiveness of the ClearVue[PV] glazing. The Study will involve the design, supply, delivery and installation of the ClearVue solar glazing which will be compared against existing adjacently installed conventional glazing. Outcomes from the Study will include comparative verified data sets for the ClearVue[PV] glazing and the existing conventional glazing.

The EMSD provides electrical and mechanical services for the Hong Kong SAR through two functions – regulatory services and operational services – to promote social safety and enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Hong Kong. Specific functions of the EMSD include, amongst many things, the assessment of building efficiency under the HK Building Energy Efficiency Ordinance. The EMSD issued the Study tender to explore solar glazing solutions for the Hong Kong SAR.

Completion of the Study and its verified data will be used to confirm the value of the ClearVue[PV] glazing technology and products for use in various future government building deployments in the Hong Kong SAR. EMSD endorsement is a prerequisite for government engagement in the SAR.

The M&V Study itself is costing the EMSD HK$383,000 (AUD $72,000) with the Study contract having officially commenced from 1 March 2023.

Commenting on the M&V Study, ClearVue Executive Chairman Victor Rosenberg said:

“ClearVue is pleased to have been selected by the Hong Kong government to complete this study on the role solar glazing can have in assisting the government of Hong Kong in achieving its decarbonization goals on the road to Net Zero.

The selection of the ClearVue product by the EMSD for completing this study is testament to how the ClearVue product is now being seen globally – that is, as one of only a few commercially available glazing products that, in addition to offering power generation on site, genuinely offers a compelling energy efficiency solution for advanced building envelope design.”

This announcement follows the Company’s recent newsletter published to the Company’s website. The newsletter provided an update on the Company’s progress in Southeast Asia, including notification of the Company having signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with AZ Group and its subsidiary MyWindows in Cambodia as well as an update on its progress on the BCA Skylab testing in Singapore, amongst other things.

The LOI with the AZ Group sets the framework for initial establishment of a distribution arrangement for Cambodia and Laos. Where such an arrangement is deemed successful, then the parties to the LOI are to work towards a joint venture or full manufacturing and distribution licence. Full details of the LOI and the arrangements with AZ Group can be found in the Company’s newsletter available from its website.

Material terms for the M&V Study tender contract include:

  • A fixed fee of HK$383,000

  • The fee to be paid in tranches linked to completion of study phases

  • The Study to run for 12 months

  • Contract is binding on the parties and from 1 March 2023

The significance of this announcement is that it represents the first sale into the Hong Kong SAR government market, and to the Hong Kong market generally. Whilst the Company makes no comment on whether further Hong Kong government sales will be secured through completion of the paid-for Study the completion of the Study is expected to support this.

The Company looks forward to updating the market on progress of the Hong Kong EMSD M&V Study, the BCA Skylab testing in Singapore and its progress with the AZ Group in Cambodia in the coming months.
