PRESS RELEASE

CIRCLE GROUP wins SEAMLESS, the Ligurian project that uses satellite data to make port logistics flows more sustainable and predictable, with a non-repayable grant of over €312,000.

Milan, December 9, 2025

CIRCLE Group ("CIRCLE" or the "Company") - an Innovative SME listed on the Euronext Growth Milan market, heading the Group specialized in the process analysis and the development of solutions for the digitalisation of the port and intermodal logistics sectors, as well as in the international consultancy on Green Deal and energy transition topics – was awarded, based on the published ranking and as lead partner, the SEAMLESS project – Smart Environmental and Mobility Logistics Enhanced by EO Satellite Systems, funded under the Liguria ERDF Regional Program 2021–2027 – Action 1.1.1 'Support for Research and Development projects for the application of innovative services in the space downstream sector'.

The project, which will last 18 months and has a total value of approximately €840,000, provides for a non-repayable grant of over €210,000 for Circle and over €102,000 for Circle Garage, and aims to develop an intelligent and interoperable platform capable of monitoring in real time and predicting road freight traffic flows in ports, with an initial pilot application at the port of La Spezia and a generalized model.

SEAMLESS is based on the advanced integration of NAV, TLC, and EO satellite data with operational information from port management systems—including PCS, TOS, and gate automation solutions—as well as from sensors and IoT devices. The entire ecosystem will be processed using artificial intelligence and machine learning models capable of anticipating truck flows entering and leaving port gates, estimating the environmental impact in terms of emissions and congestion, and providing port authorities and logistics operators with predictive alerts and data-driven operational suggestions. The ultimate goal is to optimize the management of road traffic flows, reduce congestion in port and hinterland areas, and make a concrete contribution to the decarbonization of heavy logistics, in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal.

The project is being developed by a temporary association of companies led by CIRCLE S.p.A., together with Aitek S.p.A., a company specialising in the creation of intelligent technological solutions for transport, mobility and logistics, and Circle Garage, which offers innovative solutions aimed at optimising the entire transport and logistics ecosystem, artificial intelligence and interoperable architectures. The scientific dimension is contributed by CIELI – Italian Center of Excellence on Logistics, Transport, and Infrastructure at the University of Genoa, responsible for flow modeling and emissions validation. The aspects of algorithmic optimization and decision support are entrusted to OPTIMeasy, while an external specialist contributed to the design of the technical architecture for the integration of logistics data and port gateways. The role of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea is also fundamental for field validation, as it will provide the operational context and data for the ports of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara, while also promoting the future replicability of the platform in other ports in the TEN-T network.

The SEAMLESS work plan includes analysis and definition of requirements, predictive modeling, development of decision support modules, system integration, and validation in the pilot case, with the aim of creating a scalable and replicable solution in ports, interports, and multimodal hubs. The platform will be made available in SaaS mode, opening up new opportunities for CIRCLE Group and its partners in the fields of smart logistics, the space economy, and sustainable mobility.

"With SEAMLESS, we are taking a further step in the evolution towards increasingly smart, interconnected, and sustainable ports. The integration of satellite data, port information systems, and artificial intelligence algorithms allows us to anticipate operational criticalities, reduce the environmental impact of heavy logistics, and support truly data-driven decisions throughout the entire logistics chain. In line with the 'Connect 4 Agile Growth' business plan, this project strengthens our position in supply chain digitalization and space-enabled logistics, maximizing the expertise of the partners with whom we share this challenge." said Luca Abatello, CEO of Circle Group.
