Charitable donation of shares to the University of Texas at Austin

by Dr Yeturu Aahlad, Co-founder of WANdisco

WANdisco (LSE: WAND), the world leader in Active Data Replication™, announces that Dr Yeturu Aahlad, Chief Scientist, Inventor and Co-founder of WANdisco has made a charitable donation of 50,000 ordinary shares, for nil consideration, to the James C. Browne Graduate Fellowship Fund (the "Fund") at the University of Texas at Austin, Department of Computer Science.

The Fund was set up in the name of Dr James C. Browne, one of the founding members of the Department of Computer Science, to directly support graduate students for educational and research success.

Dr Yeturu Aahlad, Chief Scientist, Inventor and Co-founder of WANdisco, commented:

"The Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin is one of the top graduate programs in the country. I was lucky enough to have Dr Browne as my PhD supervisor - his teaching laid the foundations for my work in distributed computing, ultimately culminating in the invention of WANdisco Fusion.

"I have donated these shares for the department to use as it sees fit.  I hope the donation will benefit young academics, help them collaborate on invaluable research and allow them to further progress their careers and pursue their passions in computer science."

Following this donation, Dr Aahlad is beneficially interested in 2,775,021 shares in the Company, representing 7.4% of the Company's issued share capital.

About the James C. Browne Graduate Fellowship Fund

Dr James C. Browne is the last of the University of Texas at Austin Computer Science founding faculty members still active with the department. He published around 500 papers over his 50-year research career and served as supervisor or co-supervisor for the graduate studies of 60 Ph.D. students and 65 master's degree students. In honour of Dr Browne's 65th birthday the James C. Browne Graduate Fellowship was established by the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System on April 6, 2000, for the benefit of the College of Natural Sciences. The gifts received have allowed two graduate fellowships to be awarded each year since its founding. A gift made to the fund will promote continued growth and academic strengthening of the best and brightest minds in the field of parallel programming, whilst ensuring that graduate students in computer science at the University have access to all the financial resources they need to pursue their studies.
