Visionstream Pty Ltd (Visionstream), part of Leighton Contractors, has today announced a contract extension with Chorus worth over NZ$500 million to continue construction of New Zealand’s Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) network in the greater Auckland region.
The contract with Chorus places Visionstream as a key supplier for the delivery and roll out of UFB for the next six years as part of the eight year project, deploying communal fibre network infrastructure past homes and businesses in Chorus’ UFB area.
Leighton Contractors Managing Director, Craig Laslett said “We’re very pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Chorus to deliver this fibre optic network for New Zealand. We have proven ourselves as a reliable, expert and capable partner for Chorus and look forward to doing our part to deliver broadband benefits to residents and businesses in Auckland. This work through Visionstream complements Leighton Contractors infrastructure and services business delivering projects across New Zealand.”
General Manager, Visionstream, Allan Bradford said “Winning the extension of the UFB construction until the end of 2019 is tremendous. We are delighted to be entrusted with this work and look forward to delivering the program on target for Chorus and its customers.”
Visionstream is the major provider of telecommunications network provisioning and maintenance services, delivering phone and broadband services over Chorus’ network in Auckland. Visionstream is also undertaking the roll out of the Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) over the next three to four years in the upper north Island.
