Chorus Board supports Mark Cross nomination as Director

Chorus has announced that its Board unanimously supports the nomination of Mark Cross to stand for election as an independent non-executive director at its 2016 annual shareholders’ meeting.

Patrick Strange, Chorus’ chairman, said the Board supported Mark’s appointment following an extensive search.

“Mark has extensive financial markets experience, both as a professional director and advisor. He is currently chairman of Milford Asset Management, MFL Mutual Fund and Superannuation Investments, and a director of Z Energy, Argosy Property and Genesis Energy and other early stage companies in which he is an investor.”

Patrick Strange said that ”Mark’s extensive experience in financial markets, regulated utilities and governance will further complement and strengthen the Board’s existing skill set.”

Mark says he is pleased to have his nomination supported by the Chorus Board.

“I am pleased to have been nominated and want to thank directors for their support. If elected by shareholders I look forward to contributing my skills and experience to help Chorus to bring New Zealand better broadband. Chorus has an incredibly important role to play in New Zealand’s future. Better broadband underpins so much of what the country wants to achieve economically and in our wider society.” he said.

The Board will recommend Mr Cross’s appointment to shareholders at Chorus’ annual shareholders meeting to be held at 10.30am (NZ time) at its Wellington office, level 10, 1 Willis Street, Wellington.

Mark has extensive financial markets experience, both as a professional director and consultant, and during his earlier investment banking career.

Mark is currently chairman of Milford Asset Management Limited, MFL Mutual Fund Limited and Superannuation Investments Limited, and a director of Z Energy Limited, Argosy Property Limited, Genesis Energy Limited, Triathlon New Zealand Incorporated and other private companies in which he is an investor.

In his investment banking career, Mark provided corporate finance advice to companies and governments and he has had significant experience advising companies in the regulated utilities sector in Australia, United Kingdom and Europe.

Mark held senior positions at Deutsche Bank in London, and prior to that in Australia and at Lloyds Corporate Finance/Southpac Corporation in Australia and New Zealand.

Mark is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
