APPOINTMENT OF SENIOR INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR

Centrica plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Meakins as Senior Independent Director with effect from 1 January 2015. Ian succeeds Mary Francis who steps down from the Board as Senior Independent Director with effect from 31 December 2014.

Ian Meakins joined Centrica as an Independent Non-Executive Director on 1 October 2010, having had a broad range of general management and board experience and considerable experience managing businesses with strong brands. Ian is currently CEO of Wolseley plc.

Rick Haythornthwaite, Chairman of Centrica, said: "Ian's experience and expertise continues to make a very valuable contribution to Centrica and I look forward to working with him in his new capacity as Senior Independent Director."
